A rare example of good seamanship. He knew what he was doing. 1st was a recce, 2nd was a sail thru, 3rd was the final deed. The only thing missing was pushing back against the mainsail to force the boat backwards. This man was obviously a dinghy sailor! I notice that many of the comments are by "would be captains" who can't do anything without bow-thrusters and motors.
@epicnavigator
@epicnavigator 3 жыл бұрын
He didn't want the boat to stop with the sail, he estimated the position in order to have it stopped when he was about to drop the anchor. Good point though, you can stop the boat in case you need it by pushing the boom against the wind.

Remarkable. The dingy kiting on the painter confirms the windspeed. The calm manner and well executed med moor, under sail, proves a remarkable level of skill. While I'm surprised you didn't have the anchor hanging, you are obviously more skilled than I am so who am I to question; looks like you've done this before Nectarius. Cheers!

For those arguing about the wind speed - this maneuver is being performed within a sheltered harbour but if you notice the sea state outside the harbour and the flags flying atop some of the masts, it is easy to believe this is a 27 kt strong breeze. Excellent single-handed sailing being demonstrated here.

His dingy is in the air. Not sure what windspeed that requires, but it's a bit fresh to say the least.

Iam a Greek skipper and this skipper is fantastic without stress and very comfortable he do a good job the only problem is that there have mooring and maybe he has hard time to put again up the angor but he don't have other choice he need to do this but the wind is not 27 knots I think was about 13 knots if was 27 is not there like this I know Mikonos very good I be there a lot of times but whatever the skipper FANTASTIC

This sailor has his boat under control. He knows exactly what he is doing and when. If you often watch Sunday sailors, they are already overwhelmed in light winds, then you have to ask yourself what these skippers do in light storms. The harbor cinema with charter boat skippers is often more than a criminal film. This sailor is a master ! Compliment!

No way that wind is blowing 27 knots. And he’s doing a Med-moor, not anchoring (although the anchor is involved). Give any competent sailor a double reefed main on a 28-foot boat, and he could also tack and gybe up and down the marina until, given lots of room at the pier, he brings it in for a landing.

Obviously he has skills , but unless there is a broken down engine , You you should always use the easiest and safest method to dock your boat . The value of the yachts around there are in excess of million euros, and here comes a joker with a 10000 euro dodgem boat showing of . Wonder if his Pantaenius would pay the bill in case he made some damage . In addition , where he dropped the anchor , that was at least 4 boats over to his starboard side , meaning other boats docking later in the day, will all drop their anchors over his chain . In my eyes , this is irresponsible . But hey , we are not all the same .

I saw a guy fully in control of his boat, never worried, and figured a plan. I'd rather see a guy of this character having fun and refining his skills under what appears to be a rather calm day, as opposed to a guy who just bought the biggest boat he could afford, and doesn't have a backup plan past docking under motor. As far as you know the guy could be a world class sailor on his favorite boat, just having fun. Pay attention to what was done, as opposed to what you would do, and you will appreciate life better.

He is good BUT, no way that's 27 knots, AND he's been taking useless risks and showing off a bit, risking to damage very valuable yachts around. Why did he keep the mainsail up? Broken engine? if this is so , congratulations otherwise why in the hell complicating life so much?
@kiloindia9798
@kiloindia9798 5 жыл бұрын
So you know it wasn't 27 knots, but his dingy is kiting. Did you miss that? Any idea how much wind that takes? You accuse someone of lying but you simply missed the obvious. Useless risk, maybe he is just a competent sailor. Why did he keep the mainsail up? To avoid the risks. You don't seem to understand what's going on here. He obviously has the skill to sail out of the situation for one, because he kept his sail up. Also, keeping his sail up helps the anchor set. Broken engine, or maybe he doesn't have one. People have done that for a few years. Complicating life? Just the opposite. Keeping it simple and actually sailing like a real sailor. Not only do you seem incapable of appreciating the skill demonstrated, you seem determined to criticise what you clearly don't understand.
