Pro tip: Cut the rebar at a 45° angle next time so it penetrates the ground more efficiently.

@@dragonskinner9042 said tip doesn’t make enough of a difference to cut it at 45, hence saying it’s not a big deal. You can drive a ground rod just the same from either end even though one has more of a point. Did you not see now easy that steel went into the ground ?

I love seeing all the homesteading stuff, but I would be lying if I didn’t say seeing Minion in any clip in all the videos makes me happiest. I love in the beginning of this video he is just looking at you wagging his tail like “oh hi dad!” ❤

@@pahub9256 i dont know about your culture but in the us its common to consider pets family so minion would be his adopted son it does go too far sometimes when they personify the animal beyond its capacity they end up being less intelligent because there owners refuse to train them

You might consider picking up a MAP torch. Metal finds a MAP torch sexy and melts at the sight of one.

Unfortunately a big enough storm and those short pieces of rebar are not gonna do much. Had almost the exact carport picked up and thrown over 100' damaging the side of my 1957 Chevy 150. It was anchored very similar at every post. I'd personally anchor at least the 4 corners into concrete and then use the straight rebar at every other location.

The hottest part of the torch is at the tip of the flame, keep the rebar just after the tip and it will get it much hotter 👊

Might want to try an oxy&nap gas torch, not as hot as oxygen acetylene but much hoter then just propane The oxy/nap is about $50 cad, so probably half price for usd

Damn, cutting rebar with a Sawzall would take forever. Takes forever with a grinding wheel too but I can't imagine using a Sawzall for it.

For the high heat stuff the yellow cans work best. Mavgas/Mapgas/yellagas. I can't recall what its called , only had to use it once for similar circumstances making some high-school welding art ironically in auto shop.

The best reciprocating saw blades out right now is the "DIABLO BLADES"... they make quick work cutting different types of materials but it the baddest or most awesome blade for cutting cast iron pipe in tje plumbing field... and they make blades for several types of cutting equipment... 🙂👍

A tip for finding the balance point is to put your 2 fingers at the ends and slowly move them towards the middle. If done right, the bar should automatically shift the center between your fingers

Hey brother I have 4 of these on my property. They sell anchors for these that has a propeller like tip that you use a large hammer drill to install. It will never come out if the ground.

Pro tip if ever useful again, a large pair of boltcutters makes quick work cutting rebar. Also you'll have keys to the city.

Depending on the soil and wind conditions you might want to do a few concrete set anchors or add a disk of steel under the ground so that the rebar anchor acts more like a shovel anchor and is less reliant on pure friction.

Yea, these rebar sticks arent doing much. They will pull straight out with some serious wind. Needs to use proper auger anchors.

Angle grinder nuts are elusive and expensive. The bin or petty at the store is almost always empty. If I do find them, I buy one to keep on m my keychain. 😊

A good wind and that base rail will pull through that rebar. Screw something over the rebar to your base rail.

If the propane torch isn't hot enough try MAPP Gas..... Just remember that you want a MAPP torch. Most MAPP torches accept propane canisters too, but NOT 🚫 the other way around

Try MAPP gas torch , canisters cost a little more but it it burns hotter.

Suggestion for your torch. Get a MAP gas torch head. Works with propane bottles, bigger flame but obviously uses more fuel. Or get the torch head and keep a bottle of MAP for stuff like this.

I would definitely recommend either a propane/oxygen or oxy acetylene set up for heating things,id go with acetylene strictly because you can use it for everything

You need Diablo “steel demon” carbide reciprocating saw blades. They’re fairly cheap and they’ll cut ANYTHING.

Get u a can of MAP gas ( brute yellow) for ur your propane torch and it’ll get hotter and heat that rebar or most anything metal so it bend easily. Last longer as u need less time because it burns way hotter than propane in the blue or green cans.

The torch you’re gonna want for heating steel would be MAP-propane, not propane. Comes in a yellow bottle and burns hundreds of degrees hotter

I sell those at my work....i would recommend getting some of the twist in tree anchors at least 2 feet long and add those. Ive aeen more than once the rebar rip straight out of the ground and the carport go flying in serious storms. Just hate for you to lose it or worse it hurts you or one of your animals or neighbor when it flys away

That won't do a whole lot to be honest. It will definitely help, but it's not going to keep it on the ground if a tornado comes.
