Finally found my first unbroken point in new years. I went years without but this year I've found about 4 broken points, a pestle, few manos and the unbroken point. I kept feeling like I was going to wake up any moment lol. I was starting to think I never would find one

I have grown up around the mounds in Central ohio, spent many hours running around looking at them, but no matter how old I get, they never fail to amaze me !

There is a site called Reservoir Stone Mound in my area. Most people have never heard of it but according to the local history, it was the largest stone pyramid north of Mexico. Unfortunately, it was destroyed for the stone to be used in Buckeye Lake during the canal times and later by vandalism. There are still remains, tho according to ODOT, who surveyed it in the 90s . Once I get permission from the land owner, I hope to document what's left . Reminds me of the runway in the video, mostly just relics left. Unfortunately.

Hey buddy, I live in Owensboro Ky and back in the 90’s an Ironworker I worked with he was a mussel fisherman and he pulled up a tusk from a Woolley Mammoth!! I kid you not. And a few years later he pull up a skull of one,,, they were both out the Ohio River just a mile south of downtown Owensboro.

I’m from Miamisburg Ohio and it has one of the two tallest mounds in the eastern US. You may have heard of it or perhaps visited it. What many people don’t know is the downtown of Miamisburg was at one time a large ceremonial platform overlooking the Great Miami River. It was made of clay and some of the buildings in town were made of bricks from that clay. Love your channel.

Excellent historical and archaeological video! You do a great job of exploring an ancient site. This is VERY similar to the Newark Earthworks - Circle : there’s a very large circular earth mound / wall that is like a castle moat surrounding what I believe was the village. This makes sense as a protective barrier from animals and other tribes, even blocking some weather - winds and snow perhaps. In Cancun: there is a place called Tulum that I visited - huge pyramids for the sun and moon and carvings but the most interesting part is the wall (all stone) that surrounds the small city : it has one ingress and egress opening : the entrance only tall and wide enough for one person at a time. Great videos - keep them coming! I’m right up the river in Wheeling and would love to visit and meet you on the river some day for artifact hunting!! Best of luck!

Not suggesting this would be a good site, but here is a story told to me by my relative, a building contractor who was constructing a home in Racine, WV. They kept uncovering Native American artifacts. One evening, the home owner was examining the progress in the home, and the lights kept going out. He looked through a window and saw what appeared to be an Indian. I know how crazy it sounds. Had the story not come from people i know to be honest and trustworthy, i would dismiss it.

Thanks for the adventure! Interestingly, it is recognized that the current Ohio River from Pittsburgh PA to Cairo IL did not always flow as it currently does. The current river is comprised of various ancient stream beds which typically flowed northward. The Ben Run Ruins are at a division point of the current Ohio. The ancient streams and their watersheds divided at that point such that the waters to the east flowed to the east and north toward the Pittsburgh area and on to Lake Erie. Additionally, the waters west of Bens Run flowed westward and somewhat northerly at one point. It was not until later in pre-history that the Ohio (known as the Allegheny in our early historic times) Valley was formed with its current watershed and flow. Perhaps this info will shed light on the significance of this site. Again thanks for the video!

Lots of piles of rocks in some of the wooded area here in Atlanta. I've never considered them to be anything ancient. Left over rifle pits from civil war camps. Love your channel.

Fort Ancient State Park in Warren Co. (think Kings Island) has many types of stone pavement, mounds, calendar, and more. Extremely nice museum there also. Every County in Ohio has yielded at least 1 Clovis point!

Very cool and informative video. I now know that I too have a Hutchison bottle. Found it years ago at an old forge site on property that was originally deeded to a revolutionary soldier. I also found an ingot of Babbit that the blacksmith would chisel off pieces to melt down and pour for bushings.

Cool bottle. Im upriver on the muskingum in zanesville. Was poking around looking for anything in a bit of washed out hillside on my place. No native artifacts but did find a green coca cola bottle dated Christmas 1923 Cambridge on the bottom... Sticking right up out of the ground. Wasn't even visible just last week. Poked around looks like an old dump I didn't know it was there before... Can't wait till I'm not so busy and I can start digging out some more goodies

I love your videos, comedy, excitement of discovery & sharing of history all in one nice package. Your editorial cuts are classic, gotta love 'em! It's a great distraction of other events going on in the world today. In regards to what that "runway" might be what is it's directional orientation? I was thinking to myself that it might be some sort of ceremonial procession walkway. It could be intended to depict the procession of the sun, the seasons or perhaps some sort of lore about the direction from which their ancestors came to arrive in that area? It could've also been some sort of lookout place or a boundary marking between different communities, what they perceived as the land of the living/dead or something else entirely. I'm spitballing here so don't take any of it for gospel! lol

Hey, your guess is as good as any.👍 I doubt anyone will ever know. All we can do now is try piecing things together. The platform runs North and South. The Ohio River you can see below. We've got several places like this in North Georgia. Well known are Alec and Fort Mountains and Little Mulberry Park. Possibly these were ancient observatories. There is usually a lack of artifacts within the confines of these enclosed sites suggesting that they were used as ceremonial/religious areas as well. Thanks for showing these sites. It truly is fascinating. Collecting artifacts got me interested in their history and I enjoy finding these sites myself as I've located several in my county. I've found rock walls and sites with numerous stone heaps throughout the woods. The professional opinion on stone heaps is that they were some type of marker but not a grave. Upon excavating the heaps of stone no skeletal remains are located and rarely any artifacts underneath. They could possibly be a grave marker. All stone heaps in my area are on the sides of hills, associated with visually appealing landscape and are usually surrounding or along a spring head or small creek. I've located 3 rock walls that seemingly go nowhere but are cool to check out nonetheless.

@@cleggsadventures I spent a couple hours digging in an old bottle dump that appears to date from the early 1900's to the 1970's. I found six old mason jars (the earliest dating to around 1920), two license plates (dated 1934 and 1936) and a cool old iron stand.

There are similar “small mounds” that I recall finding out in the woods and hills outside Paris Landing, Tennessee. I have always thought that they were burial sites. Up on top of hill in a pine thicket on property my family used to own. I have since always wanted to go back there and try to get permission to investigate further. I was way young then. I live just outside of Marietta,Ohio. I’ve found a lot of nice points every since I was a little kid walking plowed corn fields! There’s a lot of mounds around where I live and an small creek not far away with a cave and a mill ground rock where they cracked nuts and things ! Really enjoy watching your video! My guess is those rocks and mounds are biblical to the Giants! Been a lot of claim to giants bones in the mounds !

Great video Scott! Loved the informative tour of the runway. Are you familiar with the stone pathways that have been uncovered on Oak Island in Canada? Curse of Oak Island is the show. Rick and Marty Lagina are the hosts. I can tell you their prehistoric runway was built by the Portuguese, I believe. Probably not connected. Great stuff. I’m enjoying your vids again today! 👍

Your guess is as good as any, it’s prehistoric. Guess we just have to put clues together and try to figure it out. But nobody will ever know.

Long time subscriber, first time commenter. The piled up rocks at the base of the runway or whatever it is are indeed Indian graves. I've seen the same type piles of rocks where I live near north central Md. I knew my great grandfather well, his grandfather told him the random piles of Rick's where we live are Indian graves. Also there is a similar runway at the top of the hill from the graves. My great grandfather never mentioned anything about it. He may have thought it to be natural which I did until I watched this video and remembered seeing it near the graves. I'm thinking it had something to do with a death in the tribe but it's still a mystery as to what. Thanks for an informative upload! 👍

Thanks for the comment William! Yea, I’d say the runways were maybe more common than we know. That runway sits right in a big narrow saddle on top of the mountain. The river is to one side and the stone piles were on the other side towards the bottom of the hill. There’s more ruins around there I’m trying to find, it must have been huge at one time. The giant fish at the damn story is a good one. I’ve heard that about giant catfish at Lake Texhoma,the size of those wagons. It was the same story they were big enough to eat you. And that they would charge ducks on top of the water and pull him under.

I truly appreciate your video's. Thank you. Have you, or have you considered contacting anyone about the graves you found. I'm in CT and quite a few years ago 2 graves were exposed by erosion of an embankment overlooking the shore. They were determined to be a man and woman of ancient Native Americans. They were rightfully given to a local tribe who re-interned them according to tradition. Just a thought. Again, thank you for your hard work. Be careful. 😊

@@cleggsadventures I own 65 acres in Northern Michigan. There is a burial mound on my property. After checking the law (to make sure no government agency can steal my land) I passed the info about the burial mound to both State and Federal folks. Surprisingly, none of them really cared. Although I'm forever searching my property for arrowheads (with no luck), the burial mound is strictly off-limits. Disturbing it for a "non-scientific purpose" would reduce the "coolness" of my property and seems morally wrong.

@@Colichemarde If I had it, I’d keep it clean and mowed. Maybe a fence around it with a memorial sign. These places around getting destroyed and like u said, nobody cares unless they’re interested in history

@@cleggsadventures The burial mound is in the middle of thick woods. My plan is to keep it natural and hidden so as not to attract attention to it. The only thing I might do is gently rake a little bit of erosion damage and take out a dead tree.
