Survive the Jive

Күн бұрын

Cannabis sativa has been cultivated by humans for thousands of years both as a narcotic and also for making hemp fabrics. Brand new genetic and archaeological evidence places the original domestication event in China, but indicates that the plant was mainly spread by Indo-European peoples such as the Yamnaya and the Scythians. Cannabis was used in the funerary and religious rites in many pagan religions as well as in ancient Jewish rites in Israel.

Having a garden full of it right now I can tell you that it's kept me from meth and opiates for years and my sleep is much better and I can function through the PTSD and anxiety disorder that I have been experiencing since an early age. So happy it's finally legal and I can grow my own and know exactly what is in it. All organic for me. Just from my last harvest I have been able to help myself and my wife and several others who suffer from similar issues. Huge blessing for me.

@@Adrian-vy5vn yeah, like all things. It can be abused, but I would take cannabis abuse over any other kind. Not a record anywhere of someone overdosing on weed and the deaths attributed to it were because of the laws and the type of people who hate the laws and the cops and politicians who insisted on treating the same as cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines. They lumped weed in with those other drugs which was a lie from the start. Weed is not like the other drugs. Sure, you might actually be happy, relaxed, get hungry and laugh and sleep like a baby for a change. Dear Lord help us! Save us from the horrors of weed! Huge, ridiculous sentences are what cause people to get violent, trying to avoid the stupid long sentences. That's the only violence that ever happened over weed. I'm going to smoke what I grow until I'm in the soil myself, growing mushrooms out of my eyes etc. Because you'll never convince me that meds from the doctor's are better, safer or any such bs. Why? Because unless you yourself have been addicted to opiates, meth and cocaine, you really should not be making statements as if they are facts about this. By the way, the cannabis growers and users are the nicest bunch of caring, helpful people I've met and they continue to be so. The meth, cocaine and opiates groups of users? The exact opposite. No comparison my friend. Seriously I would not be saying this if I hadn't lived through the other garbage and settled with my weed so much better I can't even say in words. Peace

@@narxes There's certainly a difference between something someone grows in his house and what you get sold at cannabic associations where it's legal (which pretty much has always the same flavour/smell and hits the same way despite of variety) and I'm pretty sure that goes beyond selective breeding, maybe they sprinkle it with some additional chemicals. It's kinda like the difference between the 'wild' tobacco used by native americans and the comercial one, cannabis is going the same way by the looks of it.

As it has been found around burial sites was it primarily used to alleviate the suffering of older /dying people and the evidence and focus on it being well preserved at these sites should not exclude unpreserved use in normal society of those times. 2. The Zoroastrian priest travelling to the underworld on a concoction reminds me of the modern belief of astral travel by some. Are they linked? The words sure look similar.

The reason I said they're very closely related and very old gods is because Nordic peoples and the Indian subcontinent had long periods of isolation as opposed to the constant migrations dominoe'ing different groups into each other and mixing cultures the way central / southern western Europe did. I'm not saying it didn't happen at all but it happened less due to geographic isolation.

As someone who has smoked cannabis for about 55 years a tip of the hat to the earliest partakers. I'd be curious to know what the THC content of the earliest weed was. All of our cannabis is marked with the THC content in California where you can buy it in any pot store. Around northern Cal where I live the levels are as high as 37% that I have bought. I still have some right now that's 33.1%. You can buy it in juice form and it is an excellent sleep aid. You don't feel groggy the next morning. It also helps little kids that have terrible seizure disorders. One little girl was having over a hundred seizures per day, since the parents introduced cannabis into her diet as an edible the seizures are practically non-existent.

Fascinating video! Here's a tidbit which might offer some insight from my own corner of the world: Kanaf / konab is similar to the word kanap, which we in Serbia have for rope. Quite similar to canopy, actually. . Anyways, for cannabis we use konoplja, which basically means its something to be fashioned into ropes. It was the primary use of cannabis for the last couple hundred years at least. I've not researched the subject. Kanuti means to produce dripping by some kind force. When put into this context, it's hinting at the extraction of oil. Especially since twisting any fabric forces liquid out of it and kinda makes it look like a rope. Cannabis oil could have initially been a byproduct of rope production. Oddly enough there is nothing relating these words to any sort of smoke, except 'kinuti', which today means to sneeze. As - ti is a suffix identical to the eng. word 'to' and if we understand - bu from qinubu to be a suffix, as well, similar to the word 'be' - which is the same for us - the word qinubu (kinubu) could be understood as perhaps as wetter, thicker smoke or vapor. This might be quite a stretch since I have no knowledge of Scythian grammar at all, but I hope it helps you connect some dots. Cheers!

Its medicinal and drug use are probably as old as its use as a fiber. Its aromatic smell and sticky resin would make its use as a tea or herb very obvious, and therefore its psychological effects also very obvious. Even the fiber varieties have enough THC to give an effect. Smoking it may come from its earlier use as incense as they discovered that its smoke also was intoxicating. The intoxicating smoke makes it a natural candidate for religious rites. Cannabis seeds are also a good food source as each plant is full of them if you let the plant be pollinated naturally by wind. In an older Norwegian book from the 1870's I found a warning about harvesting hemp. It said that pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children should not harvest this plant and that long hours of working in the field could cause dizziness and head aches. Some plants just have a very noticeable narcotic smell, datura is another example used by the indioeuropeans. Hops is another plant associated with European culture that has a similar smell and stickiness. Most poisonous plants taste bitter because of their alkaloid toxins, and frankly the smell indicates a lot about a plant.

From seed to bong, from canna coconut oil to gummy, from leaf to dab all done right here by me from start to finish is a very good feeling. Plus I’ve now been off of Dr.‘s Pills (the kind that take people down) for almost 6 years. I absolutely love turning soil. It’s good for the soul

I like the landrace strains. A goos Thai stick is very nice. Lovely and mellow.

I don't know why my comment was deleted but ok. Anyway, I think it's more a matter of how rather than when.

I had read on the Scythian hotbox tents but I didn't know they were this instrumental in the spread of cannabis and it's etymology. Fascinating work man!

I believe a more direct translation of kapnobatai is 'those who walk in the SMOKE' which says alot in this context. A browser search should yield the same result quite easily, although I could see a translation to clouds but that doesn't work as well within this situation. I think it's pretty neat now that I know some of the culture behind the word as well.

We're finally experiencing a renaissance of the admiration for this plant. It is extremely versatile and much more than a drug/medicine. I believe it will be a crop that gets pushed more and more by the industrial side for more sustainable living. We're running out of "good" concrete due to lack of clean sand and you can't recycle it. Hempcrete is going to be a good investment.

I’ve literally never clicked on a video so fast. Not gonna lie I was kinda having a crappy day until I saw this. A perfect combination of my two favorite things in the world, history and pot.
