This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
We can also use other tools to remove hard ear wax, foreign bodies, peeling dead skin or for ear infection removal.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

Rhys, thank you for sharing these videos. I've had issues with my ears for 10+ years after a bad infection that set me in the hospital. Thanks to your videos, I figured that my ears must have blockages. My ear canal felt uncomfortable and I had trouble hearing. I purchased a bottle of Earol on Amazon and have been using it every few days. Today I woke to two little orange-brown rock-looking plugs on my pillow. My at home scope now shows my ear canals clear to my healthy looking eardrums. That "full" and plugged feeling is gone and I can hear better. This reminded me of when I went to my doctors to get my ears looked at about 10 years ago... they used the little warm water device to fire water into my ears but one ear was particularly stubborn. They inserted the end into my ear, fired off a blast or 2, and when they pulled it out, what can only be described as a parsnip was attached to the end! quite wide near the ear canal entrance but tapered down to a point near the ear drum. haven't seen anything like it before or since but after having it done my hearing was better than it had ever been!!

earwax is always a mixture of wax and skin. it's like 70% skin for wet earwax and 80% for dry earwax. it's skin cells in a sort of gel with various lipids.

On the first ear, the latter portion of the plug kind of popped out and expanded. I suppose this was because it was squeezed by the narrower part of the canal on its way out. It’s easy to see how these plugs can grow so large in the bottom of the canal that they press cavities into the side of the canal wall.

I'm probably in the minority when I say to stop this extremely risky activity! You do want to see Toby grow up - yes? Well it just might not happen! You could be the safest rider in the world but there are too many things beyond your control that can happen on a bike! My sister on a new employee tour walked into a Morgue which had 100's of helmets lining the ceiling. Her guide said riders on "donor cycles" left these behind. An acquaintance out riding on her Goldwing on a blue sky, beautiful day was suddenly blown by a gust of wind into the path of an oncoming lorry. She got on her bike as she had done 100's of times and never came back leaving her 7 children aged 20 to 7 motherless!😢 Please, please find another hobby! Live to see more grandbabies and their milestones! Love from Canada!
