I was temped to go watch this drama because I actually like Xu Kai's performance in "Once upon a time in LingJian mountian" but heh, this role is absolutely not for him. He looks like he's trying to pretend to be the aloof male lead so hard, it becomes awkward heh.... And you're as funny as always!😂

I think he i s good, just I got used to his rich mimic in other dramas. And he is canonic cold (thanks for that Ancestral god) ML only for 3-4 episodes, then starting transitions. But yes I like him more, when he shows his feeling. At least he was raised to fight not to drinking tea. And the most important thing - he is not like Ye Hua. All ML whos not like YH has some extra point from the start ^^

Well for what i see from 1'st episode. He looks like uncomfortable with female lead.Specially when they touch each other moments. Well it's change after ep 24. Honestly when the first time i saw Sanggu i'm shocked. What ? She looks like a child with an older face. I think they put her in child costume with that cross pattern on her chest really? Then they put her in a black dress. Whhhyyyy? She looks like mourn widow and more like from demon world than a goddess. Dongyun is a great actress. In this movie the CP treat her poorly. Too bad. And seems like Xianxia can't move on from Eternal love (Yehua&Qianqian). Miss the dragon. Eternal love of dream. The story just looks like similar.

I went a couple eps furthur and I still maintain my opinion. Either they miss cast or Xu Kai is just not yet capable of playing this character and their romance is very hard to buy into, It went too fast, without any emotional build up to prepare the audience, I kind of not being able to find the emotional explanation as to why they get together, to me it feels like the writer just pull it out of no where because these two are the ML and FL. It's just my opinion tho, I've never been a huge fan of Xianxia in general, I think this genre is pretty boring and predictable, with nothing new. But if u're a fan of Xianxia, I can understand ur interest, and this is probably one of the better dramas to get into, because the CGI and cinematography at some particular parts look so beautiful.

Maybe you’re so used to seeing him playing a different role than being cold and stoned hence your opinion. I thought he played it very well and his acting was very convincing considering the fact that I finished the whole drama. But at the end of the day we all have our own perspectives.

@Ruu Yin Please don't give them any ideas. A clingy master would likely be just as bad. I can see them translating clingy to mean possessive and stalkery. The kind of master who would lock the student up somewhere so that only he can "train" her. 😒

The second male leadin Bloody Romance (the Duke) is nice and warm. Too bad the female lead didn’t end up with him. I actually find him more interesting and likable than the male lead.

This was funny to watch, lol. Whilst reading your thoughts in the link provided, I thought: Oh my gosh. Nailed it! The romance at the beginning is way too fast with pretty much no reason. The best episode so far is 16 (I think it was 16?? I forgot). Currently on episode 22 and ehh, I don't think this genre is for me. At least not the whole "ML suffers a ton, FL is pretty much the cause of it" thing. I'd like the roles reversed one day, as sad as that is lol.

Cough, cough..... You can try Royal Nirvana. ML is the cause of all of FL's miseries... and the crazy part was, she stood by him until the end. Even to the extent of sacrificing herself for him....

If the drama fits that description, I'll be happy. Dear Herbal Lord is so far my favorite drama, full of romantic fluff & the FL does a lot of the ML rather than the other way around like most dramas. Thanks for the suggestion!

@@DisneyAndSpiritLover oh dearie, you don't have to read up on Royal Nirvana 😅 that is a mature romance and don't even have moments of comedy (the sexual tensions between the leads are sizzling... but with a lot of pain). Have you seen Sleepless Princess and The Eternal Love series? These are fun fluffy rom-coms 🤗🤗

@@becksfun I looked it up and yeah, I don't think that one is for me, it seems to have a lot of political stuff in there too. I still appreciate your suggestion though! I've watched a few episodes of The Sleepless Princess, loved the part where she thought ML was burying people lol. I need to finish that one. The Eternal Love S1, S2 and the new S3? Or The Eternal Love AKA TMOPB/TPB? I've put one drama called "Eternal Love Rain" on hold from iQiyi so I can finish Ancient Love Poetry. The reviews on that was intriguing to me. Thank you for your suggestions once again! It's hard to find dramas with more fluff than politics & depressing scenarios these days, especially within the xianxia genre.

Oh, there is a historical cdrama where FL is stronger than ML and bullies him most of the time-- Once Upon a Time on Ling Jian Mountain. This has plenty of comedy (same director as My Unicorn Girl). ML is also Xu Kai 😉

Can’t believe I watched it all I really think they tried to put in the touch of ten miles of peach blossoms and failed in that he did something unforgivable and the female lead has to learn to forgive him… just was poorly written on their characters

Interesting I also watched this drama and love it, love it more than ten miles of peach blossom. And baijue actually has a very good reason for everything he did, much more valid than anything else any other ml has done to hurt fl, and as a result I just love his character. His sacrifice for fl is just so heartbreaking, the same as fl sacrifices for him. They love for each other went beyond any normal mortal love, it also encompasses their duty to the three realms. A very good drama that I would be recommend 👍
