I used to do this with a splitting maul, or sledge hammer, depending on which was available in the moment. I completely forgot about it too, thank you for the reminder.

Reminds me of old Indian/Hindu club training

Correct. Where it started for sure I don't know however it goes way back in Indian culuture.

@@SystemOfStrategy I can really see the bar feeling better especially for the Katana..They also have a great culture in martial arts that I wasn't aware of before. Some think it may even be the birthplace of martial arts.

@@50StichesSteel True and possible however every successful culture had martial training is tracking it down is probably not feasbile.

@@SystemOfStrategy Absolutely..Its just fun to think about. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when each one was created/adopted. What each culture was going through at the time.

Just watching you do that it's easy to tell how effective it is for martial artists. Do you incorporate resistance bands and if so, what are your thoughts on them? BTW, thanks for posting.
@SystemOfStrategy Жыл бұрын
I don't personally use resistance bands. I like fluid integrated movements for most of my workouts.

Yes, it does go way back in Persian history.. I prefer the bars over the clubs however I use both.

There's a lot to doing this correctly when working with a mace or clubs and not starting with weight that is too high, engaging your core, foot placement, etc. Take a look at kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3SueGecrpWEn5o The ShoulderRök is pretty awesome since you can change the weigh and I have used one since they came out and clubs before that.

Is that just a regular weight bar?
@SystemOfStrategy4 жыл бұрын
No, there are sold as an exercise bar however I have not seen them advertised for this purpose.
