I love seeing prospecting from where I live. I just know there is so much unfound gold here in Oregon. Some areas have so much overburden, or are just hard places to get to but all the signs are there that it is out there. Awesome content dude. Keep up the great work. I love hiking deep into our rainforests here.

That was an awesome adventure! That first pan was surprising. Very interesting marine layer theory. With the Beach conditions and the river being blown out, that was actually a good alternative for the winter months. I hope it is worth it to go back and keep exploring. Maybe you will find a creek like that with even larger or more gold? Neat area.

Nice haul for 4 buckets run, no classification, so a good run. I am an hour from the coast in Yamhill, Co. I have checked some areas in the coast range up here, not much to speak of except black sand. You are in a good area in the south Oregon coast. That area is the honey hole of Oregon, along with a few other locations in the state. The bonanza basin, and lobster creek drainage into the rogue river, and the whole coast from just south of Coos Bay to Eureka, CA and south, are great areas to find color!

Beautiful area. You run that sluice like a highbanker. Im afraid to run big rocks through mine. I'm worried it might knock some gold out. But you can definitely run a lot more material easier than what I do which is use a ⅛ inch classifier. So it takes a bit of work to get 1 bucket filled

With such fine gold I should have at least used the 1/2 classified I had with me. Honestly, I think I would get more panning better recovery on that tiny stuff.

And its sml so its legal in Oregon and Washington 4"x10" is as big of 1 you can use in oregon if i remember correctly now except eastern oregon were its illegal to use one thats ok, because most streams out here have claims on them any ways and illegal for us to pan and or to go onto to, like north fork johnday mid fork johnday and surrounding areas

Man it's hard at times watching video from the PNW I always get homesick. The area at 9:55 looks good, brother. The great thing about when the rivers are to high, it gives you new areas to proapect, Nice brother! I think it's ancient costal, glacieral and maybe a chance of ancient river channels and lode with a lot of the areas of the PNW. Gold is Gold Brother! WTG!

A cool book that goes into deep detail about the ancient beach sand gold deposits on the Southern Oregon coast is called "Gold Panner's Guide To The Oregon Coast" (Check out the Rogue Outdoor Store in Gold Beach)- And yes, some of these deposits contain good gold; Enough that some people have claims for it. The ancient beach gold deposit runs right through my property and I do find fine gold right here at home!

The gold doesn't start until you get past the fish hatchery 😊 you're going to go past that and there are several small feeder creeks dumping into the river. I won't say which creek on KZbin. I'll say this about the location, looking over your left shoulder you can see the bedrock and the gravels with water flowing next to a culvert

At lower elevations without deep snow in southern oregon they never sleep more than a few days at a time. Not cold enough for them to truly hibernate

Jacksonville end of the valley got picked over pretty good in the late 1800s, but there's still quite a bit in josephine county. My brother pans little creeks and streams along the rogue and does pretty good. Just respect private property and patented claims

@philbrady702 we are doing a family trip to the abandoned Benton mine on Mt Reuben next weekend to explore the upper level where Evan's Memorial is. It's worth checking out when you have time. It takes about 45 minutes to get there from the Merlin exit.

@GoldHunter-77 I'm pretty familiar with the rogue. I've panned areas along it. Your gold looks like mine. So imma need it back please. Have you panned the klamath river at all? Its gold looks pretty close to the rogue. I think you are right about the old sea bed gold. Even the geography would suggest about the same.
