I always discuss the Epic of Gilgamesh with my students, it seems it also is one of the earliest flood stories.

Parson Weems penned a number of stories about George Washington that may be similar. I'm thinking of the 'ax to the cherry tree story' as an example of a moral lesson from a legendary ruler, a story that probably never happened but now in entertaining

I would love to know how this genre might have a connection with the very early greek narratives, such as the one which was the basis for Apuleus's The Golden Ass in layer Roman times.

I love looking at cuneiform writing. These legends I'm sure evolved through re-tellings and became more and more fantastic. I like trying to imagine a modern equivalent, maybe a comic book about the president?
