Steps we have to follow to make a tie and dye fabric with turmeric 1. Add two tablespoon of turmeric to 2 cups of water.. 2. Then we have to mix it well. 3. Boil the solution 4. When it starts boiling, turn the flame low and let it simmer for an hour. 5. After an hour, turn off the flame. 6. Take some fabric. 7. Fold the fabric as needed. 8. In a bowl, add water and vinegar in a 4:1 ratio. 9. Soak the fabrics you want to die in the solution for 30-45 minutes. 10. After 30-45 minutes, remove fabrics from the vinegar and water solution and run them through tap water and then immerge them in the dye bath. 11. Keep aside overnight. 12. The next day, untie the threads and then wash with mild detergent and hang to dry. 13. Now, we will have the fabric ready.

@GittikaMalik2609 It helps dissolve chemicals from manufacturing the fabric. The dyes hold a lot better if you do vinegar but will still stain if you dont do the step.

Hello Brown Girl! LOVE your video! Exactly what I was looking for. First of all, the color created with Tumeric is my FAVORITE color. I have Purpura and wearing long gloves is a way to hide constant bruising and skin tears. 😞. I finally found (8 pairs) of white gloves that are made of 93%cotton (yay) and 7% spandex. Perfect! The solution has decreased massively, had to double the measurements anyway coz I'm dying a dress, can I add more water in at the end to increase the volume or will that dilute the colour? P. S. Love how simple and easy your tutorial is to follow.

Natural dyes are more likely to fade from using detergents, so hand wash them if possible. This will ensure that the color lasts longer. If you have to wash your fabric in a washing machine, use a non-bleach based detergent and set the machine to a cold wash setting.

Joanne fabric has “back to black” kits for dyeing clothes! I don’t know of any way to do a good solid black with natural dyes, but Rit and Tulip make easily available black dyes
