@anthonybayern1 Fair enough. I take it all back now. : - D I still think Norton's "Necronomicon" comment was gold, though...

To be fair, I'll comment here too. There is an important distinction between 'dialogue' and 'acting'. What you guys hated was not the acting, but the words the actors spoke--the dialogue--which was not intended to be authentic 1800s--thus the poor comparison with Gary Oldman & co. portraying realist 1800s. Agreed it was clunky and occasionally hilarious, but it fits with the point of the film. The dialogue should not have been lumped with the acting, especially going in knowing the ending.

sorry jim, gotta call you CRAZY. the 6th Sense was nowhere near as good as Unbreakable. Unbreakable is just gold to me, best superhero movie ever imo.

I lose all respect for Anthony.

Jim is so great at picking apart movies. He finds the little things that go unnoticed and attracts attention to them. It makes the movies unwatchable after that lol.

He says the acting was a certain way, and they spoke a certain way because it was 1800s-ish. Which sounds like it makes sense until you realize that you accept your world as is. If they had spoken in very modern language the children would not have known the difference because they can't compare modern speech to older speech. So what did the 'elder's' change it for? Shits n' giggles?

instead we're left to wonder why it was so necesary to have us believe the story took place 200 years ago...it could've taken place in present day & not taken anything away from the original concept...why was it so important to have the characters act as if from another time & place? because he wanted the big "gotcha" at the end, nothing else...real filmmakers are more interested in telling a good story, not gimmicks, which is what all his "films" have been since 6th sense
@adamnagy15 жыл бұрын
the reason I hated it was the twist was totally unnecessary & not organic to the rest of the story...it was just there to basically fool us, not the characters in the film...the whole isolation from the rest of society aspect had potential but it was clear m night was more interested in tricking the audience than making a coherent & believable film...in the hands of a more skilled writer/director, it could've been an interesting commentary on violent american society & the effects on its victims

The beginning was decent and it really gets you into it and grabs your attention....then by the end you just want to remove M. Night's hat with a fucking nail-riddled baseball bat.Great concept,but it the ending was poorly thought out and hastily thrown together IMO,which really detracts from the overall movie.

Um, no Amish don't speak like that, they speak German, and English.......... not old timey English, present day English.... And I agree that it was nice to see Anthony form his own opinion instead of following along with the other two, but I hated the movie as well

I actually liked The Village. I know a lot of people hated it because the trailers made it out to be a horror flick. But, I found out it wasn't and just went into it not expecting anything. It turned out to be pretty decent.

I never saw the trailer and it STUNK. You’re a rube and the reason that these $hit movies can be made.
