Loved it. Best of the set for me. Kinski is fantastic, and unusually restrained for him. Great atmosphere, very additive. Been a Spaghetti western fan for many years but never caught this one till now and so glad i have. Please Arrow (or anyone) more Western sets!!!!

I felt it was almost like a western slasher with kinski almost like Michael Myers stoking and killing.

This was my first ever Spaghetti Western (imported a video rip DVD-R from eBay over a decade ago!) It's great to see that Horror Western being upgraded, and finally receiving attention.

Yeah it’s like a slasher film. Loved it and a great transfer

I liked this one a lot. For some reason the idea of Kinski playing a dude called Gary cracked me up. Love how it almost descends into stalk and kill horror territory towards the end, great stuff.

Same here, it just doesn’t seem like a hero’s name. Gary!

Eggsactly. Starring Klaus Kinski as... Gaz?! 🤯

Gary, the obvious name for a hero

I want to watch it so bad, but doing so would leave me without any unseen westerns at the ready.. The struggle is real.

But you’re going out with a great western!

@@manvfilm this was SO much better than the others! As spaghetti westerns go, as it is mostly a B-movie genre, this came knocking on the A door for sure. It's not quite as good as Leone's, but, what is? One thing is for sure, if you loved this you’ll go bananas on The Great Silence. Amazing. Can't go wrong with Kinski. That dude had an as awesome face as Lee van Cleef along with some truly remarkable acting skills. One thing that boggles my mind though. I tried both the English and Italian version, both had a voiceover for Kinski. Was the nut just doing his german? Reminds me of him refusing to do the English voiceover for Aguirre, the Wrath of God. Oh and one other minor thing that was kinda funny. At the end, when he's in the house and the guy starts saying: where are you?! Seeing Kinski in all the mirrors. It's his own house right? Like, I know where the mirrors are in my house? Right? Very much enjoyed this.
@manvfilm3 жыл бұрын
😂 I never thought about the mirrors that way. Although he was a narcissist, so maybe he just loved looking at his opulent self!

It’s such a departure for spaghetti westerns as well. Limited time span and set at night.

Have enjoyed lots of Margheriti films over the years - his 60s Gothics and Cannibal Apolcalpyse - and loved all the other westerns in this Vengeance Trails box set but this is all soooooo predictable (if well shot, especially the finale that has the mirrors used in Enter the Dragon) so my son and I (I mention the both of us cos it's not just me) were really disappointed. Kinski is always a good watch (even in some crappier krimis) but we KNOW he's gonna kill 30 gunslingers till the finale. Bandidos was great. I enjoyed Massacre Time and was surprised how well Pecos stood up but Cain. What a shame about Cain.
@manvfilm3 жыл бұрын
Wow, I’m surprised you didn’t like Cain. Need to remember that this came out 3 years before entering the dragon. Bit then the mirror finale was in the lady from Shanghai years earlier as well. For me it wasn’t so much about it being predictable, but more about the rising tension in the bad guys house and the lethal efficiency of Kinski.
@cfbilly703 жыл бұрын
Out of all the three films, I thought this was the least predictable. Yeah he's gonna kill em all, of course. Didnt Pecos? Didnt Nero? Bandidos was just a sigh of expected events. It's about how they get there. Cain clearly reigns supreme. By a landslide.
