WHAT IS BIG AMBITIONS?
Big Ambitions is a roleplaying business simulator situated in the open-world city of New York. You start the game as a young kid surviving in the big apple. You have big ambitions for money and success, but you're starting with absolutely nothing.
In Big Ambitions, you control a single person in the middle of the bustling metropolis of New York City. Your goal is to achieve financial success in various ways. Starting at the bottom flipping burgers or collecting garbage to eventually owning and running big businesses and real estate throughout the city.
As you progress, you always need to make sure that you're getting enough sleep, keeping up with your health, and making sure your happiness is sufficient. Increasing your capital can be trickier than you think. As you will learn, money can't buy time.

yeah YT is being weird today. I either get 3 ads at the beginning of the video or I get a sporadic ad per 5 minutes. I don't think it's Charlie doing this but a YT thing as it has happened elsewhere.

I wonder if you can own every building in an area and still make profits? But definitely buying out Jessica is the priority for that district. It seems like she isn't going down without a fight, whilst Ingrid obviously had oversea businesses and wasn't bothered losing her North American holdings.

A little cheese that I adopted was just renting every vacant unit. My Murray Hill FF more than pays for it. Well... until a rebalance happens.

My Midtown clothing store probably makes around 8-10% of my daily profits and I'm getting up near 30 businesses. My hairdresser business there rakes it pretty good too. Just a couple of ideas

@@kevinrussell3501 Yeah hairdressers are potent. I had to start a few to cut Ingrid down to size before I could attack her Graphic Design business. Now I have that market cornered and running low yellow pricing is healthy income.

@@Lord_Reavous it's funny for me that my second business in the Garment District against her was an electronics store after grinding the profits out on a coffee shop. I'm not in front of my computer, but I think it's been about a $22k/day profits every since I opened it. She attacked prices of fast food related stuff but pretty much left my electronics store unopposed. The game kind of snowballed since. My Midtown Clothing store just pounds out 100k/day but it was opened on the back of this early success.

So after you buy out their business and then close it down, what's to prevent them from just re-opening it? Why not just rent the building out? Surely the extra 500/day or whatever in rent on a "vacant" building is more than made up for by the increased profits due to a monopoly. Or is that a little too much cheese?

Removing them from the game is enough. It doesn’t matter if they return (to a small building). The goal is to remove the pricing they have, so that I get to reset the market price for that region to a higher value. If they come back, at least to a low capacity building, I’ll still take the bulk of the sales, but now at a new price. As you’ll see in the next video, this investment pays for itself very quickly, For larger buildings with good traffic scores, renting it myself to keep it away from them is ideal, and yes, worth it, can open a business there too to make profits from there as well, if demand allows, but for crap locations, I don’t really mind if they come back. Renting them all out would be pretty expensive, but I suppose the case can be made that it works alright

@@CharliePryor Does the AI not just respond quickly enough to your takeover and price hike? Seems like if the AI did that to me as a player I'd just say "thanks for offering me more money than it takes to restart the business" and then reopen it immediately and undercut their prices again (taking away market share and potentially prompting another takeover attempt) I suppose RP wise that delay/inaction can be excused as having a temporary non-compete as part of the buyout though.

@@hatterson again, the goal isn’t to remove all competitors forever. The goal is to control market prices, and I needed all players out of the way to do that. If you saturate the market with your own business as well, you can reduce demand and make it less attractive to come in and compete. They are likely to focus on other regions with better prospects then - but even if they start up in GD again, I have already raised the market prices of all products by 300% or more from what they were. If they join in, they’ll set their prices to that too - so my profits are way up anyways.

@@CharliePryor That's fair. Just seems like a bit of a limitation in the AI responding to aggressive action by the player. That's obviously totally understandable for a game like this given that 1.) AI is hard; and 2.) It's not like this is some massive studio making the game. I do love the rival additions in general and the dev has added a ton of depth since I last really dug into a long play through.
