The two outputs from accelerator pedal positions sensors are different voltages for example app1 outputs 0.5-4.5volts, and app2 outputs 0.5-2.5volts. By doubling one of these outputs the ecu would essentially be reading app1 and app2 as the same voltage and would cause and error since it's expecting a different value on one of them. If you were to be able to datalog app1 and app2 while on track you could look for a drop in one of the voltages which could be causing the issue. Hope you figure it out soon!

like others have said, most ECU's expect to see two different app signals that are inverse or offset to compare. If the ECU sees the same voltage it doesn't know where the pedal actually is so it kills the throttle control. I'm so bummed! I love watching you race!

After weekends like that, I swear I spend the next week asking my car what she really wants.... and how I can help lol. Don't beat yourself up, this is one of those problems that could take something stupid simple, or not. I'm not a electrician guru or anything, but sometimes it comes down to analog testing each sensor and wire... til ya find the anomoly(s). (I had an idea, maybe check the no lift shift, maybe vibration?) - Is something heating up at a certain point and losing connectivity? (I have seen happen with ECU and alternators and such before) - Is the fluttering of the throttle body creating a mis read on hard or quick changes like shifts?

Are you using shield wire for the pedal sensor and throttle body? Pretty sure you can try to contact Haltech about this too maybe it is an issue they already encountered!
@bryanzimmerman873713 күн бұрын
Did you ever find the root cause of the TB issue? While I don't have direct personal experience with this, but I have heard from a few friends that the connector on the Bosch TB is a known problem. A groove wears in the pins or the connector, I am not sure which, and causes intermittent issues especially with high vibrations. One fix that others have had success with is to solder and pot the connector on the TB itself, and then run those wires to a 6P DTM connector or similar. Just something to check if you have not done so already. Looking to install a DBW on my personal car soon as well. Love the videos!

Frustrating ! ... I was tempted to say : vibrations. I have the same brand of TPS on my K20, but with Jenvey ITB's. I had some problem where the TPS Signal suddently go to zero. You could try to patch the wires or extend them (6/8centimeters) with thicker wire gauge, an then crimp into the Deutsch plug. These wires are so thin, in my case they didn't fully crimp and were loose. Even with a touch of solder to secure them, they shake and disconnect. Another thing to try (to remove stress on the TPS) is to convert the pedalbox to cable and use a Acura CL9 TPS sensor, and maybe mount it on rubber to isolate, same with ecu..
@carportmods14 күн бұрын
Man, I got bummed like I'm racing. I know the depleting gut-wrenching feeling when there's issues. I gave up on my first project back in the day and sold it. It was bad Injectors.🤦🏾♂️ I hope you got it figured out now. I have a Haltech 1500 waiting for my current project. I hope it wasn't the ECU.
@TassieLorenzo13 күн бұрын
"I hope it wasn't the ECU." Given nearly everything else has been checked (and the throttle body, and those boards, are now brand new), what if it is just a bad diode, or bad resistor, or bad trace or bad solder joint on the ECU? Would it need to be sent back to Haltech to be fixed by them under warranty to not void the warranty?

@mitchellrobinson981013 күн бұрын
Absolutely sucks man, but I’m kinda shocked, does the Haltech not have enough data logging built in to be able to graph all the TPS inputs and functions and see what it’s actually losing?
@EricKutilRacing13 күн бұрын
You can log like 70 or more channels at a high frequency rate. I had my usual logging setup which gets me all crucial data. We eventually switched up the channels for more data related to throttle and their voltages.
@mitchellrobinson981012 күн бұрын
@ yeah fair game! Well I really hope you can get on top of it, those electrical gremlins suck! I’d be border line building a seperate loom from ECU to all TPS items just to take wiring out of the equation, then it’s really only sensors or ECU’s that are left to focus on 🤷🏼♂️

Not joking with my question. Do they make a cable style throttle body for the motor ? If they do is it something that would be worth it to change ? Or do you need to have to the drive by wire ?
@EricKutilRacing13 күн бұрын
They do yeah. I used to run my k24s with cable for a few seasons and upgraded to drive-by wire for the extra features. Even with cable TBs, you can still have TPS issues due to the sensor on the tb. But yeah, maybe more robust overall.
@MichiganTrailRider13 күн бұрын
@@EricKutilRacing I’m on haltech as well but zero experience with dbw that’s why I was asking. I think it has something to do with the fuel being pushed towards the TB which is confusing the TPS sensor. Fuel should not be pushed back towards the TB. Maybe check intake gasket is not perhaps the issue or injector o-rings
@staytuned917613 күн бұрын
The tps is insulated from the intake. The fuel would just be from the misfires / prime pulse when he was restarting it
@jayddv1213 күн бұрын
@staytuned9176 I understand that but if there is fuel in TB then there is fuel in intake, which can be a result of faulty injector, a problem with the ecu, intake manifold gasket has failed or even fuel pressure regulator has gone bad

@roadislandlife13 күн бұрын
@@jayddv12if he was having fuel issues he would have injector misfires or airflow misfires. His codes keep coming back for throttle. I think the backfire when the issue happens is what brings the fuel back into the intake.
@jayddv1213 күн бұрын
@@roadislandlife Point taken, but I still stand by that the issue could be fuel related if there is a cut during full throttle. He has already gone through the wiring, changed TB and made sure no wires are exposed but still had the same issue. Which tells me, it could be something else that is triggering the warnings, something they think is not related but could actually be related. Other times when you would have throttle cut on full depression is when there is not enough fuel coming through or perhaps the Mass Air Flow sensor has gone bad. I don't know, I'm just spitballing what I myself have had experience with under full throttle and had no response from it.
