story plot (Since in canon. Nightmare is dead and the goopy is just corruption) At the apple incident instead of someone eating the apple. The negativity broke lose by lack of guardian and negativity in the multiverse and decided to take matters to its own hands. It decided to take form of the previous guardian (because Night died on their side) and because it just got brought to life it went alittle crazy and had the memories of the guardian's pain and tormentors. 'Nightmare' or Corrupted only had very vivid memories of Dream as he didn't know the guardians are brothers. Dream only alittle kid there was struck with immense grief and wasn't in right mind to fight and added how he believed his brother was brought back from dead thus turning him to stone. After coming back from stone and joined sanses and fight. Poor Dream hasn't left his grief stage of 'Denial'. More believing that Corrupted is the riencarnate of his brother but is going through memory loss and Dream is afraid of the fact of him hanging out with the bad sanses will give him bad influences. Thats why he's trying to bring Corrupted back soon as possible.
