My two cents on the issue: I have no idea what it's like to live in their shoes but the lady, having come from a humble background, ought to understand how difficult it is to make money thus making dishing it out like candy even more difficult and painful bcoz you'll definitely feel the pinch. As much as a couple may love each other, managing finances is always a core issue in a marriage; the bills need to be paid, some savings have to be made in case of an emergency (medical etc), school fee etc. Therefore a spouse ought to be understanding of the his/her better half's financial situation before putting more burden on them.
