It’s actually very close a big mining town. Seriously, a big supermarket is just a 23 min drive away so need to grow your own food. They have water there too. I’ve been to Andamooka because I lived in the mining town for a year. It was stress free because - no heavy traffic, no traffic lights and a great mail service so you can order anything online and have it delivered…and many other reasons. Sure Andamooka is remote but because it’s right near a well serviced mining town it makes it easy for remote living.

This is actually a great idea when you think about it. Dying towns will be revitalised with cheaping housing to draw crowds and hopefully with it different professions that generate a community. Not to mention this will pull buyer's away from the cities and spread economy more around Australia which is something we need. This might just turn the tide on overcrowded expensive housing and jump start the economy and infrastructure boost Australia is sorely missing. Should make a series of little towns all around Australia telling a similar story, it will definitely make a difference 👍

It’s not that hard to find that information if you look, like most country towns fuel and food prices are higher, medical services are nurse run and tele-health. The show said that most people are off grid which means you supply your own water/power and you decide your restrictions according to your catchment ability (water tanks are a few grand each). They probably have composting toilets (possibly with a grey water system). They most likely have no internet and they love it, I have lived in an off-grid situation in another state and I enjoyed it but its not for everyone.
