I love the inclusion of Baudimon's theme in here. On one hand, it's as if he's watching over Jakka as he ends this. On the other, with this melancholic tone, it makes you wonder if killing Mortimer was even what Baud would have wanted. You know it's the right thing to do, but it won't be a happy ending regardless.

Baudimon killed his favorite uncle when he threatened his wife, he would do the same to Morty, but he would rather be lose his mind figuring out what the heck was Mortimer's reasoning for doing what he did.

Honestly, this soundtrack did well for an end chapter of a FE standard game done right, though I didn’t felt the energy like twilight of the gods or apex of the world. I like it alot(like this ost my top 5 ost from Andaron Saga) though I felt that I was fighting a costly match with a madman. It was a win-loss or loss-loss scenario… you give up a few things chasing down a dream

Yeah I was fundamentally opposed to this. It's one of the two worst things about the final chapter. It totally undermines Mortimer's character to turn him into 'the bad guy.' The Mortimer I wrote would never betray his convictions like that.

@@samuiluzunov5428 I had several ideas I wanted to implement. Any of them would have been preferable. A few would have allowed Mortimer to live, but Mangs insisted he should die, so I had to work around that limitation. I also couldn't change the gameplay mechanics either, as Mangs had already made Mortimer summon shadow-copies of his brothers. One such idea that I had set up throughout the game but NEVER paid off, was that Maria faked her death. I wanted Mortimer's body to be 'destroyed' in the finale, but then we find him in the epilogue, badly injured and dying, as he limps toward a mountain cave. He drops down there, weakened and alone, and his mother appears before him, telling him he was a good child and he did the best he could. He could have died in his mother's arms, finally reuniting with her in death. But was his mother real? Was she only an apparition? It would be left up to the player to determine.

Honestly, could have seen him rip parts of his life force to create illusions that don't die in one hit tbh. Terrors could still appear if Jakka made bad choice as Asmodeus appears, but you get jist
