I thought I met Anders Osborne 12 years ago or so briefly before his set at a small music festival in Pennsylvania. A girl I was dating for a time was a huge fan and she had turned me on to his music. I had seen him play live before at a festival 3 years earlier and again at the first interlockin festival or lockn as it was changed to be called at the last minute. I was stoked to be on the same bill at this festival and Used liquid courage paired with a all access pass to yonder on back stage and attempt to greet the bloke. His song mind of a junky had really hit home with me and So I told this joker who I thought was him sitting at a green room bar so. I offered him a shot of some high $$$$ whisky I was given and he took the bottle expressed his gratitude for the offer and poured shots out of my whisky for 4 random girls near by. He said He wasn’t drinking. He went on to say that he appreciated good whisky and it was tempting but he had to quit drinking years ago for health reasons as he sipped on a beer? . He said you seem like a good dude. I saw your band play earlier and I was digging your set but your solo on the dead’s new speedway boogie was obviously booze related sloppy and he said he kept wished he could have heard it played by jerry Garcia with a clear head instead of me sloppy drunk which I wasn’t. Then he went on to say to each his own buddy but I gotta tell you that honestly the best thing you could ever do for yourself, your family, your musical ambitions and most importantly your relationship with The man who put on this whole Shebang would be to get off the junk and sober up. I was like wtf! I didn’t show it but I was about ready to Bitch slap this Doushe. I was all the way turned off by his stupid comments and I thought to myself wow what a pompous ass doushnozzle Anders Osborne is. I talked with this Doushe some more after his shitty remarks and it just got worse. but I couldn’t tell you much of what was said. He had lost any and all of my admiration immediately and I was pretty much just pretending that I gave two shits about whatever the fuck he was saying and he said allot as I recall. All bullshit about his life on the road and bla bla this chick at bla bla that show. He gave me a copy of black eye galaxy that he actually signed as Anders even though I didn’t even ask him to. I chuckled when he handed me the signed cd and I said it’s been a complete displeasure meeting you mr. Fagboy Osborne. You my friend are about as real as a 3 dollar bill with a grin and my hand out for a shake as if I meant what I had said as a compliment. He may not have understood my jab at his character because he just gave me a bewildered look and shook my hand. I handed the black eye galaxy cd that he faked signed to one of the girls sitting next to him. I grabbed my bottle of whisky and I bounced. I found out later when Anders came out with an intirely different outfit on and about 80 pounds of more meet on his bones than his imposter that it wasn’t even him that I had talked to but just some asshole wanker pretending to be Anders. His shades and beard totally had me and many others fooled.. even though I know it wasn’t Anders I losted interest in the real Anders Osborne’s music. It is a shame because he is obviously awesome. This song is great. Imposters can ruin it for you is the point of this rant I suppose. This song is killer though and it’s time I give the real Anders his due again. This was 12 years ago so the gay bashing stuff I said was wrong and I’m aware of that. If I offended anyone please know that I was a different person back then and I would not say such things today for any reason. I was simply just quoting an ancient Memory.
