Just used my anderson levelers this week and it was crazy simple, and worked like a charm! We are first time trailer owners, and didn't have a clue of how to level the thing...thank goodness for these! I can't imagine trying any other way. We bought a pair of the Anderson Levelers for 2016. They are awesome! We made one modification. I drilled out the small hole up front and made a hole in the chock block and secured a rope through each hole. This keeps the pieces together for Grab-N-Go transport/storage.

Watched this video a couple weeks ago, looked easy to use so I went to my local RV dealer and purchased this Leveler system. Worked like a champ on my Popup camper the first time driving up on it. Now Idon't have a issue with my camper door not attaching correctly to the camper because not being level from side to side. I hve been close in the past by using wood planks, not have never been exact on the bubble as needed. Trust me, this does work.

ANSWER 2 - Yes, we have had a few Camper Levelers break under varying conditions. Out of 100,000 units we see a failure rate of 0.003% or three thousandths of a percent (3 per 1,000). We are currently upgrading our manufacturing process which we are confident will reduce that number by more than half. Of course, the good news is that we do have a 3 year replacement warranty on all of our plastic products, so you're covered!

I own a lance trailer, I recently purchased the Andersen set for our trailer however the axles are configured to close together to effectively use this system flawlessly, I tried the only few options you could try, only to either drive off, which spits out the leveler pretty aggressively, or beat it out with a heavy hammer. Cutting off a inch or more from the approach end maybe the only solution. Aloha

In answer to some of the questions and concerns below… ANSWER 1 - yes, we do recommend one leveler per axle. We showed one leveler on the dual axle trailer in the video clip just to show it CAN work, but as correctly stated below, you won't quite get full height.

Question, I have used these before and loved them, however this weekend I used the leveler and I'm guessing because there was still tension from pulling it up on the leveler, my ball on my hitch got stuck in the coupler and I couldn't get it unhooked. I had to rock it to get it to drop and it scared the crap out of me as the jack was swaying on the wood I had it sitting on. Luckily I had all the wheels chalked so it didn't fall, but is this a common issue? Any suggestions on how to keep this from happening?

@driftwolf
@driftwolf 7 жыл бұрын
Have a set, use them all the time for the work trailer. Fairly happy with them, and not too hard with just one person. But they really sink into any softer ground, much more than the tires will. Make sure you put a wider base under them before using on softer ground. Also, sometimes 4" adjustment isn't enough, so I'm looking for alternative solutions. My temporary solution right now is to use extra 2x10's underneath, then use these for the "final" adjustment. Pain in the arse, but it works.

I love how easy this system is to use camping alone with a bluetooth level detector/transmitter in the trailer and the phone app. The only downside I have ever found using my Andersen levelers is soft terrain. I carry a couple of small planks of pressure treated plywood to have the levelers sit on when the ground at a site is soft (grass/hay field typically). The Andersen will just sink right down into soil like this, over time, over night. But having a plank underneath solves it.

Look great, EXCEPT what if need to level on 2 Axis? For a Truck Camper, say the front is lower than the rear, so need blocks under both rear wheels, AND you’re on a slope left-right, so need 1.5” on the right and 4” on the left (which seems to happen ~50% of the time boondocking in back country to me). How would these work?

@andersenhitches
@andersenhitches 9 жыл бұрын
If the frame of your trailer is lower than standard, there's a chance the leveler may wedge, although we haven't heard of that happening yet. On hard surfaces we recommend driving off the same way you drove on since the leveler may 'shoot' out if you drive over it. Probably won't hurt the leveler, but the startled dog standing nearby might run for miles before you catch him!

If the side wall is is level as shown the floor will be level from side to side also. Then you just have to level it front to back but you can use the level on the rear wall in the same Manner assuming all walls are square. It should be close enough anyways most houses aren’t perfectly level and no one ever knows.

Jugger C. Great question. On hard surfaces you will feel a little bit more of a drop as you go over the tall edge of the Camper Leveler. It won't hurt your axles at all - your axles are built to handle far more than the small drop down off the Camper Leveler. If you are concerned though, you can simply back off of the Leveler(s) when you're done too.

+davva360 When parking you do not have to have both axles on a block as the one that is on the block is now holding the trailer up. The dual axle is for stability and to be legal within weights set by DOT regulations. Does not matter when in park! Either axle can be used. The front for pulling on to the leveler or the back axle to back onto it. To the one asking about how to do it when single? Easy. You know how many inches you need to go by your degree markings on your RV's level. After a few setups you should know how many inches a degree is and watch the leveler block as you pull on or just keep moving back and forth and the walk of shame after the first time to get level! It is good exercise! I make a mark on the ground that is about the distance I need to move the rig according to where I am on the block and have a set point on the "rocket board" or step on the rig and as I move forward or backwards to get the final level. I align the marks up and I should be where I need to be. Being alone and setting up is only as hard as you make it. I like easy! Blue Sky's and Safe Journeys!

Hey Beth, that is a great question! Our suggestion to someone who is trying to level by themselves would be to use a large digital electronic leveler or even a large bubble leveler that you can put right on the front of the camper, making it easy to see when your camper is level. We find that the digital electronic levelers tend to be easier to see in this kind of situation, so that's what we would suggest. We hope that helps. If you have any more questions, just let us know!

We have been using these levelers on our 5th wheel for 4 years. I added a little item to mine. In the large curved part I drilled a parachute cord size hole in the center of the largest recess. I put a 2 ft length of cord through the hole with a knot on each end. This allows the cord to be pulled out on either side. Then I drilled a similar hole in both sides of the chock part. The cord is used when we are removing the levelers. The person pulling out the chock can pull the cord and not need to get your fingers close to the tire. then when I revers the cords on the leveler part are pulled out as well. I haven't tried this yet, but, it might be possible to place a stake and tie the chocks to the stake with a bungee cord so that pressure is removed, the chock will pull out and then reverse and a cord could pull out the leveler part. This would be useful on a dual axle trailer by a single person.

We'd love to have you purchase them from one of the thousands of Dealers we have across the country -that way we aren't in competition with them. Most RV and Trailer Dealers carry them, as well as Camping goods stores, tire stores, sporting goods stores, and several online Dealers. Call us if you can't find someone locally.

How much space in between tires should there be to use them as is, without having to trim them?
@andersenhitches
@andersenhitches 9 жыл бұрын
DeAnna Imbro Great question! That's a tough question to 'blanket-answer' since tire size and spacing can vary so much. An approximate distance for the space between most standard tires that will allow the Camper Leveler to fit is around 2-1/2" to 3". However, the smaller the tires, the less ground clearance available to fit the Camper Leveler in. That said, we do have an easy solution for fairly tight situations …just 'trim' the end of the Camper Leveler (you can trim up to 4" off with no adverse effect). We have pictures that will walk you through this, and we can send you those if you'd like. If you need more detailed information, feel free to send us your tire specs. We will be happy to plug them into the computer and let you know exactly how it will fit for your set up. We will need tire size (diameter or radius) and the distance between them at the closest points. Please feel free to contact us again if you have further questions.

@@andersenhitches So, the distance between the tire rubber is 4"....will these work since they are 15 5/8" long? Seems like you would have to almost stand it up end to end in order to get through the ties?

I have a camper on a one ton dual wheel Pickup truck... do I use one on each wheel
@andersenhitches
@andersenhitches 9 жыл бұрын
Edmund Braun Hey Edmund, the truck itself doesn't normally need leveling, just the camper. Our advice is to use one leveler per axle on your camper. If you'd like to also level your truck, that is possible as well.

@Maxid1
@Maxid1 7 жыл бұрын
Sandy Lomeli You'd need one for each tire on dulies but I saw them use a single leveler on a double axel so maybe you wouldn't depending on the terrain. But I'd be nervous about putting so much weight on just one tire.

At 0:59 it shows a leveler under one tire, but at 1:01 it shows a leveler under both tires. I have a 23' fifth wheel, two tires on each side. How many levelers do I need?

I use 2. I didn't want the other tire "floating". They are very easy and quick to setup. I set them at the tires and back up while my 10 year old daughter watches the level. We are done in a few minutes.

Kevin Dolin Thanks, Kevin. Good point. I'll get two, one for each side. I'll be RV'ing solo sometimes, which means "GOAL" several times. The Camper Levelers have got to be better than those worthless stacking lego type levelers, which I had two of them crack on the first use. The joys of having an RV :)

12thDecember You wouldn't need to "level" both sides, just the tires on the low side.

Theo de Man We'd be glad to help you, but shipping is pretty high... it costs around $70 US to ship a Camper Leveler to the Netherlands, so your total purchase price for one Leveler is $110 ($70 shipping + $40 Leveler).

If you have tandem axles, why would you use one leveler as opposed to two?
@gbrianmullinax8448
@gbrianmullinax8448 10 жыл бұрын
Robert Thompson I have tandem axles, just like in the video. It shows using one and then using two levelers to level the trailer. I was asking why would you use one leveler as opposed to two. I guess a more appropriate question would be is it permissible to use one as opposed to two levelers to lever a tandem axle trailer?

***** Look at the Amazon reviews of the leveler, particularly the 1 star reviews.
@gbrianmullinax8448
@gbrianmullinax8448 10 жыл бұрын
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the reviews, I'm just saying that's where R. Thompson may have seen where they were breaking. As for me, I took receipt of my first RV in June, ordered two levelers prior to that, only to learn that my axels are two close to use both of them. I did not do my due diligence. On my one and only trip the one leveler I used sank in the sandy soil again not the levelers fault but a 2 x 6 to place the leveler on would have been a plus but that does not help the other tire/ axle, which comes full circle to my original comment.

Brian, Some people think that to level the unit, you'd only need one. But others of us know that would not be good for the tire to solely support the whole weight. We have dualies and I insist that both tires share the load.

@andrewanderseninc

John Hogan Thanks for the comment. We based the 'play acting' on dozens of comments we heard from customers who had switched to our Camper Leveler, and shared with us some of the frustrations they had in the past with other 'levelers'. We tried to keep it somewhat realistic -although a few of those customers mentioned the swearing they did with competitors levelers too! :) On a side-note, we've actually had at least 3 separate Dealers call the Camper Leveler a "Marriage Saver" after they used it …when I asked why they said because of how easy it is to use and how they didn't get into a battle with their wife while trying to level their Trailer like they always did using their old one. I don't think we'll be making a video of that!
