my mom is a single mom, raised 3 children on a very tight budget. My brothers are moved out in college and are doing so well, thanks to our mom. “who cares your daddy couldn’t be here, momma always kept the cable on” that really hit, because no matter the situation, mom always kept the cable on and food in our stomachs. I’m so grateful to have her as a mother, i want to show her my gratitude when i’m out of school, to show her that i appreciate her.

I listened to it 3 times today. I just can't leave it alone. The very first song sealed the deal fir me; i,e, the Bird, which is a tearjerker for me as it resonates at a very deep and soulful level. I wasn't ready. The album is an amazing and eclectic collection with a few more standout and unforgettable cuts, including surprisingly stellar contributions by the guest list of Schoolboy Q, Rapsody, Game and Talib. The soul reminded me of Bilal somewhat; maybe it's the voice, but the songwriting is all California dreaming, reminiscent of the mix of struggle and success, the debauchery and the soulful ambivalence of a Frank Ocean in his last album, yet a fresh, personal and unique perspective in its own right. Just beautiful music especially if you pay attention to its lyrical narrative.
@shaungbm38619 жыл бұрын
+1 I've been thinking this reminds me of a grittier Frank Ocean. If there is one thing I don't like about Ocean, it's that his voice is so good sometimes it sounds like he's not trying... But this is pure soul

I'm so glad I gave this guy a benefit of the doubt when I watch the xxl, I checked out his music and I can truly say he is just amazing, a true genius, could arguably be one of if not the best true artist/musician of our time he is bringing back that classic 70s/80s music with a dash of Hip-Hop, with funk, R&B, jazz, neo soul music, yet at the same time smoothly fusing it into a Much Much needed fresh new sound of music. He is just so versatile, he is an all around musician through and through. He is revitalizing music much like the great legendary artists did before his time, a true student of the game. He truly is the future of this industry, no doubt.
