My first Tube amp is this Vox AC30S1 in Cream bronco with the creamback G12M Celestion. Apparently it’s a different speaker from the regular AC30S1. Played it at our band rehearsal yesterday and it definitely has that cleaner sound that the regular AC30. More headroom to work with which I prefer. My band mates really like the way it sounded, very simply so you don’t need to spend much time tweaking knobs. It’s a start into my tube amp journey, bought it used for $600 which I think it was a fair price. Look forward to playing it more and using it at my first gig!

Oh, I like Rob. And I think he is a good player in his preferred style. But these amps really benefited from a player exploring the dynamic possibilities within the clean headroom. Well done Vox for listening to customers and making something practical and desirable! But the price is too much it needs to sit below an actual ac30c2 not be slightly above it in price to reflect the less features. Something around the £600-£650 Mark would have been more appropriate. I have owned this amp since it came out. I absolutely love it and is my favorite amp I have ever owned (I owned a Vox Ac15C1, Fender DRRI 65, Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb, Marshalls, Blackstar). The clean sound is classic Vox, but easier to dial in. The gain is definitely more modern but works really well. The digital reverb is really not an issue, it sounds as good as a spring on the Voxac. Definitely worth the money if you are into the Vox sound.

Great review and inspiration to consider this amp and ultimately buy it! I traded in my AC15C1 for the AC30S1 in Cream tolex with the Creamback speaker. This amp has become my main "go to" gigging and playing amp. Beyond being a beautiful looking and sounding amp, the S1 Cream has loads of clean headroom, is super easy to dial in the signature Vox tone, does not sound thin at lower levels ( (for me the 30C2 had to get up past 2 or 3 to sound good), is pedal friendly and weighs not much more than the 15C1. As I loved the 15C1, a few drummers I have played with through the years challenged the ability for 15 for to stay clean ( I play clean on the edge of break up and use pedals for overdrive or hand volume roll off with slightly more gain)... I can't stop playing this amp, this amp inspires me to play so much and I am receiving outstanding positive comments on my tone from fellow musicians...:). Although the Ac30C2 has an excellent full sound and bottom end, unfortunately it was often was to loud for most rooms, really can introduce a stage volume that is hard to manage and at 75lbs, is a bit heavy! The Ac30S1 seems to have the best of both worlds.. After playing numerous shows in the last 5 years, and a recent user of an excellent amp modeler for the last year and a half that sounds great and is efficient, I am happy to be a primary Vox user once again! Vox provides me an opportunity to develop an individual signature tone when playing guitar.. Lastly from my personally experience, being prior 15C1 and 30C2 owner, I don't miss the lack of tone cut, extra inputs, tremolo and "normal channel". My pedal board can provide extra effects as needed. For folks concerned about the lack of a "normal" sounding channel, I have found it can be dialed in with eq on the amp... For me, being that I used the TB channel more often than not, this amp really works for me. The built in reverb is outstanding in this amp also and its great that I can leave the pedalboard home if I want and obtain excellent tones.. KUDOS to Vox for designing an amp that fits perfectly between the 15C1 and 30C2 with functional needs and thanks soo much Pete and Lee for helping me obtain the right tone, amp and fit for my needs:).!

This was the demo to convince me to get one. As well, Pete convinced me to get a proper Telecaster, which I'm incredibly glad I did. A road worn in purple, of course. No doubt, the magic happens with this preamp gain set around 12 o'clock (depending how hot your pickups are). This amp is LOUD for a single 1x12... Louder than I expected. I would rarely ever want master volume past half-ish way, but I also do play with a clean boost pedal to feed a little "oomph". It's a very simple amp, which is probably it's best selling point because it works great as a palette for pedal players. The reverb is nice, sounds natural and even on low it fills the sound out nicely.

The es335 is much more transparent and open than a les paul. Anyway, since I play in a band with quite a loud drummer and a solo guitarist on a jcm lead and 412 cabinet the choice is obvious. It's a pity the ac30s1 can only connect an external speaker muting the internal one. Otherwise a great amp. Thanks for the wonderful playing and comments!
