Great video, as always. Interested in statement @15:05 "There is no reason to buy a Gibson over an Epiphone unless..." Reading between the lines here, but (following the creation in the UK of GAP - GuitarGuitar/Andersons/PMT - to act as a large distribution co. with impressive collective buying power) is LA sounding a very strong warning shot to Gibson for the future? i.e., what he's really saying is: 'Don't dictate to us retailers what numbers we have to take and what brands we can and cannot promote alongside the Gibson wall. WE will tell YOU how many Gibsons we want to take, and WE will stock/sell/show other brands in our retail outlets exactly as WE want to.'
@polaritypictures6 жыл бұрын
I own both companies guitars and both types of pickups, you can tell the differance between the pickups. if you really get a good setup and finishing on a guitar it'll be hard to tell, but the probuckers are noticable for being a bit flat, the burstbuckers have a bit more range and sing more. Also most epi's use the crappy cheap green caps and cheap pots.

John Douglas Racing Video We also need to bear in mind that these guitars were all tested with a fairly overdriven tone (well... of course... it’s Chappers! 😝) and differences in sound typically get more and more masked the more drive (or other effects or steps in your signal chain) that you have.

Bryan D. As always there are variations. There are many different varieties of “cheap” pickups and indeed of “expensive” pickups and some indeed will “suit” gain settings and differences might remain noticeable under those conditions. I still maintain that in general it is easier to tell differences in sound and tone the more transparent and less “effected” (including by gain) the signal path remains.
