I love how the biggest reason the kid's bomb is so effective is that the Imperials decided they HAD to make a show of force, because authority is brittle and oppression is a mask for fear, so they brought all their weapons and bombs and ammo out so everyone would see them. I understand what you're saying, but how is he submissive if he goes against his own superior and continues the investigation instead of accepting the false narrative in Morlana One. In any scene he is acting based on his own interests apart from when he interacts with his mother. He appears to be submissive with his mother only because it's fostered by her, it's more so his feeling of insecurity that manifests in his self doubt that "he is not good enough" but really who wouldn't want to make their parents proud in an undermining/patronizing environment like that. However, Dedra represents the fully actualized version of himself, the underdog but a winner, which is why he romanticizes her as he views her as his equal despite her status.
@skiena2 жыл бұрын
Syril is seduced by the allure of order and the stability of a universe that is black and white. I think, though, that in reality he is more interested in getting revenge against Cassian than anything. He was initially motivated by the feeling of power that he had to track down the man responsible, because there was no gray in his view.
@Justin_Leone Жыл бұрын
@@melekimutuanene9430 I don't think being a submissive necessarily contradicts someone also always acting in their own interests. Being submissive doesn't simply mean letting yourself be cowed into doing what anyone says. He'd want to submit to someone worthy of dominating him. He goes against his commander's orders because he's so disgusted by that commander's own lack of convictions, so his intention is to go above him and prove his own worth to someone higher up the chain who's worthy of serving. Of course it doesn't go to plan because he's completely out of his depth with Luthen, but when he realizes Dedra, unlike his former superior, is a serious and aggressively dominant person, he becomes obsessed with serving her.

Of the many things to like about this show, my favorite is that we get to see what they are rebelling against and we get to see an Empire that seems competent. Mired in bureaucracy, but competent. Storm troopers that hit their shots, functionaries that are more interested in doing their evil-ass jobs than jockeying for position. Dedra is more terrifying that an Sith, she is that common place evil. The only downside is my bar has been set so very high that new Mandalorian just felt like so much sound and fury signifying nothing. If you want yo go super hard the "A More Civilized Age" pobcast went deep on their breakdowns of each episode. Austin Walker in particular provided a wealth of context for just how well written the show is with his deep dives on real world rebellions and leftist ideology. I had a long commute and this podcast would fill it.

You guys are the think tank of Andor! You see more and discuss more, than almost any other channels I see out here! Thanks so much for knot just watching the shows, but taking the time to discuss what you saw. I learn so much more from watching you guys and then rewatching the episode. On this one, Monmothma totally fooled me! You guys knew she was plotting from jump street…lol! Great analysis and love all of you guys for your humor. It’s my favorite part of the show! #starwarsworldwide #4life

Finally got around to watching Andor and damn, I was missing out. How can Disney make crappy sequels and then come out with Mandalorian, Rogue One and Andor?? lol I mean the sequels had some good characters, new perspectives and a potential to be really good but f'd up in execution. This show and Rogue One are by far the best Disney has come out with and it had no jedi in sight. We need more of this.

I only just found you all, but the gentleman on the right's attire made this occur to me: Andor is like The Wire in the Star Wars Universe. It's as good a show as that was. Love Baltimore. Haven't been there in a long time.

The gun at 21:37 was obviously designed as an anti-tank/anti-armor emplacement, but I suppose that trooper decided it was a good day to commit a war crime with it.

For the record, Star Wars has never really shown blood, that’s not a Disney thing. You can count the instances of visible blood on one hand.

What's also crazy is that the delays he probably causes in the creation of it by brining down one of the factories probably allows for enough time for the other plot lines to develop just that little bit more.

It's not just bring it further in a peaceful protest. Nothing piss off a populous more then attacking a funeral procession of a popular leader. It happens in real history too. If I recall correctly, it's something that happens during the Troubles in Ireland.

25:08 Micky, Perrin knows Davo, he told Mon that he's met her husband several times when they first met. Maarva still needs money to fund the Rebellion, so she still needs Davo. He has a system that'll help her move money while making it look like her money isn't moving at all. Perrin's defense was pretty weak--dude got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He didn't prove Mon wrong.

I love how this show shows the dark parts of the conflict between the rebellion and the empire. The money laundering, political subterfuge, blackmail, spying, smuggling... all of it was part of the war. Battlefields aren't always armies of thousands blasting at each other

22:42 he is helping her because he knew that she would end up in the exact same position he was in when cassian lost him his job. So he sat back and watched it play out, and the first time around he had no field experience like the Irish guy, SO HE SAT THERE SHELL SHOCKED. And we saw the same thing happen with her, she got caught up in the action and didn’t know how to respond in the chaos. But this time around he was ready and he saved her in her shell shock moment. Which probably is definitely securing him a promotion.

Best property in the entire Star Wars franchise, and I've seen them all opening night since 1977. And I have been saying this since at least episode four, and for once, the writers and production didn't disappoint with the transitions or the dismount. I cannot wait for the twelve episodes of 2024!

@@kjaime7030 To an extent I agree, especially if a live series can't have the budget a movie gets. Thats why for me Star Wars today is in its best guise in animation.

Love how the shot of the death star being build almost mirrors the way you see a lightsaber being constructed. If that wasnt intentional it is amazing
