A major piece in the flute repertoire and I haven't found a better interpretation than this one by Rampal. Faithfull, lively, intense, detailed, colorful.

It is so difficult to write 20 minutes for flute solo and keep the attention of the listerner. Jolivet succeesed greatly. The use of maodality creates consistence, while the detailed writing creates variety. The interest of music is variety within a consistent framework,: tonality, modes, series ......
