Three things that make this particular live performance really stand out way above all of the rest I've seen on KZbin...1. The tempo is perfect, slightly faster than usual, giving it a lot more energy. 2. The inclusion of the vocalists near the end of the piece is a stroke of musical arrangement genius...sends shivers every time! 3. The respect given to the humble snare drummers front of stage playing 7 minutes of perfect simplicity. Bravo indeed!

I play drums in an orchestra and my grandmother once went to see a performance of bolero, when she came back she said i had to listen to it and pitch it to my conductor which i never did. She died a few moths later just before Christmas and ive now decided to come back to this video and listen to the song and it is a musical masterpiece, thanks grandma 🕊️

I usually listen to Ravel's Bolero around midnight while looking out at the night on my balcony. I don't know about you, but in these moments, my feet leave the ground and I rise to the sky in awe. It passes the moon, all the stars, including Mercury, gather around me and prostrate themselves before me. In short, Rael must have composed this piece exclusively to blow me away... I met the "Bolero de Ravel" when I was 5 years old at the beginning of the year 1994. My father had an old cassette and for the first time I played it on the old "mini audio components". Of course, I didn't know that I was listening to a piece by Ravel, I was just fascinated by the music. Throughout my childhood I enjoyed this piece without having any idea of the most basic formalities, when was it composed? By whom? What style of music is it? I suppose that when genius reaches our ears, regardless of how old we are, we know how to recognize it and enjoy it. The beauty of music is universal and eternal.

I just spent one of the most enjoyable seven minutes of my life (which goes some being seventy three years old) listening to Andre Rieu lead his arrangement of Ravel's Bolero. I wish I could say more but I was in an accident a couple years ago that put a limit on the amount of time I'm able to stay cognizant of what I'm saying or writing. I began playing serious and not so serious music over sixty years ago and somehow came up with the idea if it's popular it can't be good. Boy was I wrong. Very beautiful and very stirring.

Rieu doesn’t just play waltzes. A bolero is a slow-tempo eighteenth-century Spanish dance, but since it is in triple time just like a waltz, it seems to fit right up André Rieu’s street and is one of his best tracks. Ravel’s ‘Boléro’, composed in 1928, is probably the most famous bolero of all time - especially after it was used by Torvill and Dean for their unforgettable 1984 Olympic routine.
