John Sheahan was one of the greatest of the great Irish folk musicians. A member of The Dubliners from '64 to 2012, when the name of the group was retired, he was loved and admired throughout Ireland and the world.

I don't understand how there are no other comments on the poor piccolo who had to keep pace with all that. They only show him while the tempo is still rather slow and calm but they don't bother to show us his suffering as the windows to sneak even a tiny breath continue to shrink until he has to finish the last few stanzas without breathing at all. No wonder his last few notes are so shrill as he fights the urge to pass out in the last few moments. What a legend!!🤣🤣

I saw John Sheahan perform when he played with the Dubliners in my hometown, up North in The Netherlands. They played their butts of and were fantastic, just as great as het is in this video, both men are real musicians, love them.

The Power of Music. Heard this tune at the end scene of The Sweeney 2 , The movie over 40 years ago and never new the title or heard it again, heard it today by accident while brushing my teeth and in a flash recognised it and brought me back to those good old days of my youth.
