It's so annoying to hear Sampras was the GOAT server. Well that he was but he also one of the greatest ever in all other departments. You don't become that dominating just on serve in the most competent tennis era. Sampras was great fluid athlete. Right amongst very best.

Sampras was _not_ one of the greatest ever at returns. His results on clay are not up there with the greatest ever which means he couldn't adapt his game well to that surface. He was most definitely not a perfect all around player. His serve was absolutely huge and that made his volley game a lot easier. His speed was not one of the greatest ever. His slice and drop shots weren't up there with the greatest ever, either. He had power, pretty good speed, and was a very good shot maker. His mentality might have been his biggest advantage. He was obsessed with winning and made tennis his entire life while he was playing.

I am Spanish, i loved Nadal and i love Alcaraz. But how i wish he can return the half good Agassi did... I remember Agassi was becoming a new star right in my time as young tennis player (teenager with very good level). We all the kids in our team loved Agassi. For me Alcaraz have a lot of room to improve his return shot. Maybe his worst part together with serve. All the other shots are just amazing and unique. Thats why he is a highlights maker machine. I loved how Nadal return too. But in this era no doubt, Nole is the best returner... What always amazes me is the Agassi Ability to shot the ball so close to his body. He dont need that great leg´s play. Also how soon he always shot.

Andre's return of serve is godly. A lot of guys have had great serves. Many have had great forehands or backhands, but nobody, i mean nobody, ever has had as good of a return as Andre Agassi. The hand eye and quickness to take 130 mph bb's and consistently pick them off is imo the most unique weapon in the history of tennis. Keep in mind Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic fans, that Andre had to not only make contact with bomb serves, but had to put the return either by someone, or hit it within two feet of the other side of the net because people actually serve and volleyed back then. Todays players have the whole court to get the ball back into.

Hard to fathom how Sampras lost this match. He had it in his pocket and yet Agassi was able to take it away from him. Kudos to Agassi for fighting all through that fourth set, especially during the tie breaker. That running forehand @3 all should have demoralised Agassi, but it didn’t. A little bit of luck with that net cord during the immediate next point, but all the credit to Agassi

Back injury in the summer of 99 really set Pete back. That summer of 1999, arguably was the best tennis Pete ever played. Had the injury not occurred, he was definitely the favorite player to win the US Open.

Pete's serve actually gained momentum when it hit the ground, due to the incredible rotation he generated. The only player who can do this is Kyrgios. Nick's serve takes off when it hits the ground.

Shame that you left out the service faults of Sampras' that were followed up by bomb second serve aces in the fourth set tiebreak. Just watching him bang down an edited two aces one would believe they were first serves when in fact they were second serves. Even with those and that freak running forehand pass Agassi remarkably found a way to snatch that tiebreak. Great match and upload nonetheless.

Yes. The measure of a highlights video is in showing that second serves WERE second serves, if only in crucial moments. No player in history hit as many great second serves under pressure as Pete Sampras, and only when you KNOW they're second serves can you truly appreciate his excellence.
