I've never heard of Andre Nieri before, but his "interpretation" of Fred is incredibly good and impressive. Light years away from all the highly talented but tense young guitarists who struggle on KZbin to “recreate” the work as accurately as possible.👍👍👍

I mostly listen to prog or metal (and some reeeeally heavy stuff) these days, but man jazz and fusion will always be some of my very favorite genres. That may have been one of the cleanest improvised guitar solos I've ever seen (assuming it was improvised anyway), and that bass tone was absolutely killer. So warm and songlike I was getting almost fretless vibes. Great track, and I don't mind AT ALL if you do more like it in the future. Also, not directly related but when you brought up chord voicings, it made me think that you should look up a video called Mikael Akerfeldt Never Plays A Boring Chord which is a tiny look into kinda the secret sauce of why Opeth can play a lot of repetitive and not always terribly complicated passages but always manage to sound just so damn good. Alright!

Really enjoyed this cover and reaction. Holdsworth was a legend, with ears and hands like no other. All 3 musicians nailed it! You can hear the Holdsworth influence in Fredrik Thordendal's (Meshuggah), solos, even some solos from Misha Mansoor (Periphery). Also the traditional grip used by the drummer was a treat to see! Love what you're doing with this channel and love that you're having fun! 🤙

@@KeyOfGeebz Yes! But only on their last two albums. I suggest the song OMNI Silence Inside. An 8 min power-prog masterpiece from their last album. He's also part of Kiko Loureiro's trio (Kiko from Megadeth, ex-Angra), and has played drums on Kiko's newest solo record "Open Source", also a great album.

This is a SPECTACULAR cover of a great Holdsworth tune, no easy feat due in no small part to the fact that Alan had easily the largest hands of any guitar player I've ever seen live. This likely contributed to his hard-to-duplicate intervals. I think the fact that he didn't read music (!!!) also contributed to his very individual soundscape. A true genius who few dare to cover!

I never really listened to Allan Holdsworth outside of quickly checking his stuff a while back, but John Petrucci often mentions him being a big influence, especially on his chord playing, and I can see why. speaking of JP, I find it odd that you've come so far and not done any more Dream Theater, they have so many amazing songs and the rabbit hole really goes deep, and with so much variety to their songs. Dance of Eternity is really just the most crazy song arrangement wise. Images and Words for me is one of the all time classic albums. It would be cool to do them chronologically, or at least go back to the beginning to start with. I know I've been recommending a lot(still pushng hard for Memento Mori by Kamelot though), but this just seems like an obvious must do deep dive: Take the Time - kzbin.info/www/bejne/j36QZaybaZdlgNE Learning to Live - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnLCfqSGh9umgMU Space Dye Vest - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZqQl6uYdqxlnKs A Change of Seasons - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2rUi2eKo9mabqs Hell's Kitchen + Lines in the Sand - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIm5apuIntRoZs0 Panic Attack - kzbin.info/www/bejne/maSbo56lpNqDibc This Dying Soul - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqKui3mJj8Rpr7c Octavarium - kzbin.info/www/bejne/joq5aY2qZ9BjiLM ...the list goes on
