I could be wrong, but I think Cary Elwes has a story about how when they were filming The Princess Bride, there was a pub they would frequently visit after filming had wrapped for the day. Obviously, because Cary was one of the stars, he would more often than not have to be on set the next day, so he would limit himself to around two beers at the most, while Andre would order vodka by the pitcher and only get slightly buzzed.

That's very sad what Andre went through in his life. People mocked Andre for his size everywhere he went and he would cry. that is very mean to mock people for their size especially to a nice guy like Andre

It hurt me when i found that out too. He was nothing but a big man with a big heart and people saw him as a freak of nature.

My neighbour Rick meet Andre when he was a Wrestler back in the 70s. He actually drove him to a McDonald’s after a match in his truck.

Correction: He drank 48 beers on that trip.

To paraphrase some kind words spoken about Guillermo del Toro: "He needs to be that size...to contain his heart!"

Even though Andre was limited in his later years because of his back surgeries, he was still a better wrestler than Hulk Hogan

ive never believed andre to be 7'4, i believed pre back and spine issues, a legit 7'1 at his peak

So Andre knew his size was caused by a tumor, but chose to keep it? I don't know how I should feel about that, but he lived a very unique life, and hopefully lots of good came from it

Does anyone think Andre removing the brain tumor could have helped and maybe even saved his life?
@cscmusictv3 күн бұрын
Big Show (a wrestler who is often compared to Andre the Giant due to his size) had the exact same disease as Andre, but he managed to remove it through surgery.

I think it's worth noting that it would have been a "back in the day" brain surgery rather than a modern one. Today brain surgeries still come with risks. If not outright death you can be left screwed up. And those risks would only have been greater back in Andre's day. Then factor in the chance of not getting the whole tumor and it coming back anyway and not getting the surgery wasn't necessarily a bad idea.

As usual Sunny didn't do his research. Andre's career didn't end after WrestleMania 3, he wrestled for another 4 years (There's a video of him wrestling in Japan in 1991) and would even win the WWF World (Though only for like 20 seconds) and Tag Team Championships (With Haku).
