This is very sad news. The following link contains an article about former soap actress Andrea Moar who recently died. She portrayed Carrie Sanders on All My Children, from 1980-1983. In the storyline, Carrie's mother Leora suffered continual physical abuse at the hands of her spouse, Kurt, Carrie's father, kicking off the controversial story of a wifebeating alcoholic. A sensitive, controversial storyline to be tackled back in 1980. There was an especially graphic Thanksgiving episode that wasn't easy to forget.
Carrie was fiery, take-no-prisoners, who bravely stood up to her dad, defending her mother whenever she could against her father's abuse. A force to be reckoned with & my very favorite character in the soap during the time she was in it. I'd been in Junior High then & fortunate enough to get home before the show went on each day. After her run in the show, Andrea went on to another soap, Rituals.
I've seen articles stating she also appeared in Home & Away & Heartbreak High, which are aussie soaps. Those are erroneous. This Andrea Moar was american & wasn't the australian actress who appeared in those shows. Two completely different actresses altogether. It's been years & various websites continue with this misinformation. AMC & Rituals were the only two soaps she had ever been in. She also appeared in an episode of Remington Steele.
The summer of 1980 was a time of great memories for me & the Carrie character was a part of that. I was delighted when she joined the soap, Rituals, after her time on AMC came to an end, as it was nice to see her in something again.
Here's the attached article regarding the actress' death. Gone far too soon & in such a tragic way. She shouldn't be forgotten.
Andrea Moar's legacy will continue to live on as the immortal Carrie Sanders for which I will forever remember her.
R.I.P., Andrea. You were a true DIVA.
