English translation, for us American dummies: The Carnival of the Animals is a satirical-humorous suite made up of fourteen movements. It was written for a private concert of two pianos and a small chamber orchestra and its public performance was forbidden by Saint-Saëns himself, sure that the caricature of the work would damage his image as a composer. The work was published in 1922 after the author's death and was immediately a huge success. It is frequently performed with the supplement of a string orchestra. The atmosphere of the Aviary develops on a carpet of tremolos of violins and violas and the engine of cellos and double basses, while a very fast melody of the flute, accompanied by the trills of the pianos, recalls the birds trying to soar in the blue sky. -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- Andrea Oliva, born in Modena in 1977, first flute of the Orchestra of the National Academy of S.
