Hi dear. People misunderstand the use of WD40 for toilets. It doesn’t clean. What it does is prevent fecal skid marks forming in the toilet bowl ... the bowl remains slippery so no brushing needed if used at least once weekly. I don’t know how people ended up making it about cleaning when it’s really about preventing dirt attaching.

Here is a tip: take that toilet brush and using medium force, shove it in the exit hole about 15 times very quickly. This will reduce the water level. Then, WHATEVER METHOD you choose to clean that water line, the cleaner can sit on the stain with out being diluted by water. Every bit helps!

Shut off the water intake valve, then pour about a gallon of water from a pan fast and it will drop the water level well below the water line.

I clean the toilet bowl first with any commercial cleaner. Once the bowl is clean, I lightly spray WD 40 around the water line. The oil prevents a scale build up on the bowl at the water line. I do this about once a month. I do not use WD 40 to clean the bowl.

You do realize that baking soda renders the vinegar inert. It literally neutralizes the acid. Just use vinegar by itself. That reaction you see when the two are mixed is quick and pointless. Once it stops, it is not effective. At all.

I think the idea is that it keeps the sides lubricated so it stays clean longer. WD-40 repels water so maybe it will help everything slide down easier. Traditional cleaning may clean better/faster but it also leaves the surface a better attracter for waste. So cleans better get dirtier faster.

I have always used vinegar and baking soda. You can soak paper towels or rags with vinegar, push up under toilet bowl ring where all that nasty stuff accumulates and leave overnight. In the morning remove and give a quick scrub with baking soda, it does a great job and leaves with a nice clean scent. Also more eco-friendly and no worries about kids/pets ingesting toxic chemicals.

I like the cleaning vinegar, but my husband hates the smell so I add several drops of an essential oil such as lavender, tea tree or lemon, they are inexpensive and each has antibacterial properties. Currently I have lavender essential oil in my cleaning vinegar spray bottle and it smells great.

Underneath the toilet rim is a spot many don't bother with it. It's definitely a spot that gets really dirty from all the flushing , people getting the runs and nirmal everyday use. As a housekeeper and Janitorial cleaner. My favorite thing to clean is tiolets, it's a challenge, especially when very ,very dirty. One thing I do struggle with removing is the hard water. Pumice sticks do great on not so much hard water. When there's a build up of it, even as I clean them everyday, it's tough.

Wrong on all points. Pb Blaster smells horrible. You have obviously never used it. WD40 is NOT a cleaner nor is it an effective penetrant or lubricant. People misuse it all the time mistaking the temporary effects they are seeing. It was initially created as a rust preventative for rocket housings. Then the automotive industry started using it for things like removing moisture from carburetors. The "WD" stands for water displacement. The "40" is how many attempts it took the scientists to get the water displacement properties perfect. So it does not break down rust and corrosion like PB Blaster or Kroil. It's not a cleaner for your toilet. It just helps to remove water from metals and prevent initial flash rust. It's not even meant for long term storage of said metals. It gives you time to put things into service or use, and then they can be properly maintained. Stop believing every idiot on the net. Your understanding is you clearly don't.

Use citric acid. Turn the water to the toilet off. Plunge until there is no water left in the bowl. Pour in some citric acid. Boil the kettle and pour in the hit water. Leave for a couple of hours. Then clean with a toilet brush. Your toilet will look like new again. 🚽🙂

The WD is for water dispersant! So after you clean your toilet bowl with cleaner of your choice, hopefully something environmentally friendly going into our septic systems, spray the toilet bowl with WD-40 & it will help to keep stains from sticking to your toilet bowl. It works like Rain-X on your vehicle windshield and disperses the water stains.

My succession is Tidy bowl cleaner. It has a goose neck nozzle which sprays UNDER the rim, which you totally missed cleaning. It can get nasty up there as all your “new water” comes in there. So you get water scale, lime buildup and yes just pure yuck. So if you don’t clean UP UMDER THE RIM you really aren’t cleaning. Also you should clean the water tank. Yes the park that hold water between flushes. Using the same Tidy bowl or Lime aWay will usually do the job. Lastly at the end of your video you say you make all kinds of video to help women. Excuse me,man here and I’ve always had toilet cleaning detail. It’s not a gender role. I’d appreciate it if you edited the comment you made or at least acknowledge my less than warm & fuzzy response to you “women” comment. It works both ways.

Same here. I'd have to fill my toilet with CLR or vinegar and let it soak for a long time. Problem is how do you block the hole so it doesn't all go down the drain? Plus it would be cheaper to buy a new toilet than buying enough CLR to fill the bowl. When you only have one toilet, you can't leave it to soak that long anyway. My toilet look disgusting from the calcium or lime that has built up and it get stained. I have yet to find anything that removes it. Once I tried scraping it off with a sharp knife which removed the calcium but left black marks.

LOL... scrub a lot of nuts and butts !!! BTW, nice wedding ring!! Someone's got good taste!!😀 Just a quick comment about the hard water. If you notice that you are getting a lot of hard water build up, you might want to test your water (after the water softener) to verify just how effective you system is working. Depending on the age of you softener system, there are some regular cleaning and maybe replacement of parts that need to be done (small screens meant to filter can get clogged and there are seals, and valves that can get worn). If your system has a float in it to sense the water level, that could be sticking or there could be a salt "bridge" in your salt tank as well. There are quite a few things that can slow down or bring to stop the softening process (check for salt bridges to!). Also, if it hadn't been done at first, or you're not sure, have your hard water tested to get the exact hardness AND IRON content in your water. This will determine critical settings for your water softener to be sure that your getting the optimal results. You can usually just take a small vile of water (BEFORE THE WATER SOFTENER OF COURSE) to your local Culligan or other similar store/dealer and they'll usually test it for free - get the results in a day or 2. And REMEMBER - you'll never really have PURE SOFT WATER - that's not really the goal of water softening. So even with soft water, such as yours, you still get your build up over time. And if you're unsure about the setup of the system, or even if it's sized correctly for your household size and water usage - then it's best to get a professional in to help. There's a steep learning curve to this whole softening process you can avoid by leaving it to the pros ! Ok, hope that gives some more insight. Thanks !

Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pads work better than anything that I have tried in 22 years of having a well and hard water. I usually use it with Comet or Ajax and it works without draining the toilet. You have to use elbow grease, but it gradually gets better every time you clean it. I wish that I had known about it when we first bought a home with a well. It does not damage the finish on the toilet bowl like a pumice stone.

Many ladies for the past 100 years have made that mistake (maybe some men too). My mom did it once but she got out of the bathroom quick enough so no harm was done. There have been some people who were actually killed with that mixture. I got a taste of it once myself. I was scrubbing with a toilet cleaner and it wasn't doing the job. I actually flushed before I poured in the bleach, but it still managed to throw off some nasty fumes. That was the last time I ever used bleach in a toilet. Other things work better.
