I searched for Andreas because I had not seen any recent videos of him in the past years, to see how he was doing in general. He is my favourite countertenor, with a 'forever young' voice, which sounds like a male singing high, with a perfect mix of chest and head voice. He is doing as good as he was 15 years ago when I met him during some Masterclasses here at my city I attented as an observer (I wish I was a performer back then!). Surprisingly enough, one of the images I remember from him the most in those masterclasses is him coaching this very song to a young lady, mentioning how it is the most amazing and persuading invitation to music. And now that I saw him performing it I could feel those words again. Pure enjoyment! Needless to say, he is still my favourite countertenor! Besides, a very warm, nice and respectful person.

It has deepened a bit but if anything it is more beautiful than before. Such a pleasure to hear him again especially with this piece. I had the pleasure of hearing him live both in New York and Germany, in a monastery near his village. We would love to be able to hear him again live with our son.

I am so grateful to live in an era of such great countertenors such as Mr Schöll.

My favourite countertenor for years. A lot appears afterwards but my heart belongs to Andreas. Thanks for sharing!

Exactly! I remember his performances at the last night of the Proms. The word "magic" is not enough.

Amazing countertenor who always takes a piece of music and makes you listen to it anew. I don't mean to cast aspersions, but it is so refreshing to hear a non-English take on Purcell singing.

Surely this is one of the best songs ever. The way Purcell draws you in and persuades you to listen from the first note is remarkable.

Great harpsichordist--very subtle, intelligent rendering.

This is such an enchanting, eloquently expressive, and hauntingly evocative rendering of this precious Purcell piece by both Maestro Andreas Schöll and the Masterful Alexandra Helldorf. The artful harpsichordist and ethereal countertenor delightfully harmonize in a mellifluous flow in rhythmic step adorned with flourishes here and embellishments there. Bravissimos!

Music for a while Shall all your cares beguile. Wond'ring how your pains were eas'd And disdaining to be pleas'd Till Alecto free the dead From their eternal bands, Till the snakes drop from her head, And the whip from out her hands. Music for a while Shall all your cares beguile.

Purcell is difficult, but Scholl’s English diction is not too clear.

I can't agree. His diction is very good. Its not often in classical music that diction is this clear .
