SARS audits can take quite a while to complete - have your refund been paid out yet?

You'll need to check whether your banking details are valid, and then reload your banking details. SARS might ask for banking detail supporting documents to be uploaded to eFiling

Hi,i submitted me tax return 16 Oct ,17 they requested for documents as i was chosen for verification.32 days later on my efiling screen it say tax refund is on hold due to your assessment subject to audit.This was on since the 17th oct.What do i do know as it suppose to take 21 days for a outcome.All compliance in order

Hi, i completed my hubbys tax return for the first time ever this weekend, had to update his banking details etc...im rather confused though, as on his ITSA refund due pay date is 01/08/24 then bank transfer with refund date is 09/07/24...i successfully changed his banking details at 7am on 08/07/24...yet we have yet to receive the payment....just wondering if the payment still could have gone to the previous details or would that update have been successfully stored? I have tried making contact with sars for days now and have yet to speak to someone

It sounds like your banking details must be updated at a SARS branch. You should be able to enlist the services of a South African accounting firm to do this on your behalf to ensure that your refund gets paid to you and that you get your tax clearance certificate.

Statement of Local Assets & Liabilities is a controversial section. Many tax practitioners just fill it with a bunch of 0's. 1. As far as I know, there is no tax consequence of completing that section with 0's. 2. Governing bodies (SARS, SAICA, SAIPA, SAIT etc) will argue and say that it's a required section and therefore filling 0's would be an incorrect filing. I will leave it up to you to make the final call.
