Sinding is presently known only by his little piece for piano "rustles of spring". So, like Grieg, he is considered as a master miniaturist. His symphonies, his concertos for violin, his chamber music show that this is a quite false vision of the composer. What a sense of proportions, of condensed lyrism, we can find in this third and last concerto ! This third concerto for violin is significantly shorter than the second one - probably the most known, or better the least unknown. The musical material is not lighter. There is some kind of concentration of the musical energy, an increased vivacity in the exchanges between the soloist and the orchestra. The purely melodic ranges tend to be shorter. All in all, this is a very exciting concerto. It should be noted that the knowledge of Sindind sufferred from his alleged support to Hitler when he invaded Norway. The same is true for the writer Knut Hamsung 1

The final movement doesn’t have enough allegro in it and definitely not the fuoco element. It’s not too dissimilar from the 2nd movement. Although it sounds great
