Andrei hit on a very good point regarding the F-35 fighter; that the real money from this project is the servicing. The US has NOT shared the ability to upgrade these aircraft. So member countries are now under the influence of the US government to follow it's pollical policies, or they can withhold vital upgrades required in the coming decades. Thank you again for another very enlightening interview! I live in North-East Scotland and have an Airforce base fairly near me. The British MOD bought several Boeing-made F- I can't remember what they are and were forced to accept US personnel being stationed at this base too. Evidently for the maintenance or functioning of these jets. One example of what Andrei Martyanov explained about the US's tactics in this field I know of... And Germany didn't want to get involved in the Ukraine war against Russia, but because it is in NATO and also not a free sovereign country since 1945, its government could be forced more easily into finally agreeing to send those Leopard tanks, for example. And it was the Americans too who blew up the Nordstream pipeline to prevent Germany having trade relations with Russia. And I have heard that the AfD wants to take Germany out of NATO, but first that country would need to be freed, wouldn't it?...

Out of the NATO countries, the Swedes have it nailed down the best for actual conflict against a near-peer. The Western forces rely on big high-value targets, half of which will be heavily degraded in minutes if they get in a proper fight. They're made to fight people who lack the means to attack said bases, so they can make them huge and benefit from economies of scale. Then they can sally forth from said bases to attack some poorly equipped guerrilla group or army somewhere in the region. To think the huge bases in Qatar, Germany, Romania, ROK etc are going to survive long in the event of a conflict with Russia, China, North Korea or Iran is insane. They'll quickly have to resort to their small bases, improvised bases and carrier groups for the logistics and air support that is their usual trump card - and it will not be easy like they're used to.

Having served for years in a European army, I can say that what made me leave was the narrow thinking of the officers (myself NCO), the actions performed are those of the manual, even if they involve death. , and this cannot be discussed, this is the major problem of NATO. We are talking about the conquest of territory. logic dictates that when the enemy is weakened, defeated, the field is clear, the territory is taken, the battle is thus fought.
