I use F.A.S.T Graphs as a valuation tool, and am finding it to make very short work of what used to take me hours. I have all of these spreadsheets that calculate average yields, how much mean reversion would add to prospective returns, cash flow per share, ffo per share, and how those relate to averages. This automates all of that data into a visual graph that provides quick calculations. I highly suggest it. SSD looks like a great service as well, but is much more expensive. Nothing beats reading annual reports for the qualitative stuff. Here are a few rules of thumb: - Divide the earnings per share by the price to get the "earnings yield," which will show you the implied yield if you were to buy the stock as fair value and ignore any growth. - Look for operating cash flow per share and use this in place of your "earnings per share" number to get closer to the truth. This takes net earnings and subtracts capex, while adding back depreciation/ammortization. This is better for REITs (FFO), and other yieldco's. - Add operating earnings growth to the dividend yield, and that is what you should ultimately be earning over the long haul. If you buy below value you can add to this number. Buy above value and subtract from this number.

Andrei, great tips for the beginner investors, but if I may point out something regarding the quantitative analysis that most people do not know. I dont claim to be an expert, but have been investing for over 20 years and i am also a CPA. When analyzing financials of a company, one must be aware of the fact that the figures on the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, etc, can be easily manipulated to whatever the particular company wants to show. These people know that investors do this kind of analysis and thus, they show you what they want you to see. For example, you cannot analyze an Oil company without an in-depth understanding of that particular industry because you may see the numbers on the Balance Sheet, but you wont understand whether these are reasonable reserve estimates (for example). You cant analyze an insurance company without knowing statistics (actuarial sciences) and what IBNR (for example) is. It is always better to get an expert to look at the company fundamentals, if you really want to have an in-depth understanding for your decision-making. Otherwise, you are doing surface-based analysis and I would say that you would be better off just putting your money into an ETF.
@CarMaintenanceGuy4 жыл бұрын
Man, that SUCKS.
@russells95904 жыл бұрын
@@CarMaintenanceGuy, yep. Do you know how they teach accounting these days? Professor would ask you how to do a particular accounting entry and you would give an answer, but he would tell you that you are wrong because you didnt ask a follow on question regarding the purpose of that entry. Most people dont know that accounting rules are very flexible and could be massaged to a specific objective. If i want my company to get a bank loan, i would show a really healthy balance sheet and P&L statement. But if i want to reduce my taxes, i would show barely any income, if any at all. And all that starting with the same numbers. Thats why the biggest corps pay so little tax.
@CarMaintenanceGuy4 жыл бұрын
@@russells9590 Yep. My CPA is an ex-IRS agent. He makes it so I show little income for lower taxes. Problem is, it's hard getting approved for many things. Thank you for that detailed explanation. That is extremely helpful.
@russells95904 жыл бұрын
@@CarMaintenanceGuy, ex-IRS is a good choice. They know the system and know how to use it to their/your advantage. I took the easy way out. As soon as Canada made me pay taxes, I've moved to a zero-tax country and haven't paid anything in 16 years, since we, Canadians, pay taxes based on where we live and not based on our citizenship (for now at least).

One of the mistakes I made early in my investing with robinhood is I was desperate to get short term gains. So everytime I'd put my money in stocks and after a few weeks or so I'd take out money when the stocks would dip in fear of losing. Few weeks down the line I'd see those same stocks went up higher than I initially invested but because I took out my money when it was low, I ended up losing instead. So Although I did lose a lot, but fortunately my profits were still higher due to investing in cryptos which kept me motivated on investing and now I am going for long term profit than tryna be a bitcoin millionaire overnight

Ok. First of.. applause for the effort. I think you did a good job being entertaining and informative at the same time, hence the 70k likes which, I think your video deserves and even more👏🏻👏🏻but there is one reason that makes me stand back and have a choice of my own after watching your video.... P.S. it’s not the fact that your shirt is tight, nor the amount of money you make shown in the footage(not to say that you aren’t honest about that). It is the basic understanding, that I grabbed long before, but didn’t know that there was an actual record of that theory with an example of monkeys. Long story short the concept says: invest in people who have more money and experience(inside stocks), because they have ‘higher reach’ or a ‘formula’ that allows them to invest in more (specific/random) stocks then a regular person that could have been capable of doing. Most likely the sellers of this idea are hopeful of your win, because you win they win... but just that isn’t enough. Even if it is very much possible that it is not a scam, that is not the ‘only way’ to make money as you mentioned at 6:04 . That is just one of the theories that work, but that has it’s own limitations.

@richardshipe49935 жыл бұрын
@@The4Bryce4 he doesn't. You open a vanguard account, save up 3000, and invest in vtsax. If you want a similar asset just buy either VTI or VOO ETFs. VTI is the total US stock market whereas VOO is the snp500. Their performances are in lockstep with one another. If you want international exposure you can buy the VXUS etf. If you want the world just buy both VTI and VXUS.

One of the lessons I picked early in life was to save maximum before marriage. And by God it was one of the best one. I used to save two thirds of salary at that time. I invested in stocks, and diversified MF. My patience was tested in year 2017, when my portfolio was down 30%, but still I continued investing. After foreshortening, I used to save on an average 90% of my salary (crazy right!), but my first big break came in 2019, with the help of a trade analyst, I had accumulated enough money to retire! I booked profits and reinvested according to change in objectives I am living a happy and satisfied life! Thanks for the content. Keep them coming!
