She's clearly a genius. High level thought organization shines through her monologue/interview. She' did'nt skip a beat. Everything was clear, straightforward and at the same time expressive. Truly a brilliant artist!

Opsipova is clearly very intelligent, but a genius? How can you tell from one interview which is a translation, has a lot of editing cuts, and we don’t ever hear the questions or the order they were given? I mean, you did notice all of the cuts, right? I’m not trying to take anything away from Osipova, as she’s clearly very intelligent, but so are all of the other ballet dancers I’ve seen interviewed, and I’ve watched _al lot_ of them; I don’t think you can reach that level without having a lot of brains. But IQ is so much more than the qualities you cite, and it’s irresponsible to label somebody a genius without even hearing what they’re saying in their native language, and on the basis of one interview. I know this bc assessing IQ is one facet of my profession.

As a child I loved Alicia Markova and Anna Pavlova. When I was 12 years I started ballet School performing around small theatres including The Birmingham Hippodrome in the presence of the Queen to celebrate her Coronation. I lacked physical strength and stamina, also my parents were poor and couldn't keep the payments for my lessons, up so I was forced to quit.. Now I'm elderly with no regrets, and from time to time I watch the occasional ballet performance.,, but this ballerina takes the cake. Natalia, is the most brilliant dancer I have ever seen. I don.t think any one in this world can match her. She flies like a bird and her style and expertise is unique. Well done Natalia!

For me, the most important characteristic of Nathalia Osipova as a dancer is her performance, her interpretation of characters, her intense emotion in whatever she dances. When she moves, she touches my soul. I felt all this before watching this video. Then, I noticed WHY I felt all these things: she likes contemporary dance (although she is a perfect classical performer, for me) and... she loves Pina Bausch (my muse, my heroine) and what Bausch produces. Natalia, you are an emotional performer. That is why you touch us. I hope to see you dancing one day, in person... I hope this time of pandemia will finish soon!!!

What an interesting person she is! She is also incredibly humble and self-reflective over the decisions she has made in her journey as a ballerina. It is also quaint to realise that she also had the same motivations at a very young age as Sergei... with a strong hold to gymnastic and the will to win medals . There are so many similarities in these two hugely talented dancers. They both have reported similar emotions regarding the impact that their parents had on their educational decisions... I am a strong fan of Natalia and Sergei and this will not alter. I have a lot of administration for people who thrive to achieve what they want in life. 🥰

I have to laugh when she says her rise in the theater wasn't very fast. She danced a lead role in a full length ballet at the Bolshoi in her second season. Think of all the dancers who are stuck in the corps or lower ranks of soloists for their entire career and never get above that no matter how good they are. Osipova is an amazing, completely unique Prima Ballerina.
@DancersDiary2 жыл бұрын
Don’t forget that directors of the companies are giving the chances to dance, all dancers are ready to do leading parts but unfortunately many of dancers won’t get that chance in a big company.
@kabardinka12 жыл бұрын
@@DancersDiary So much of it is arbitrary... how one dancer's body matches with another, what roles are available to dance and how an AD sees using you. Russian companies are very strict about emploi... it's almost impossible to be successful if you don't have a specific type of body (unlike the era of, say, Plisetskaya or Lepeshinskaya who wouldn't have a chance in hell today). But if anything, Osipova had what would be called a meteoric rise, a combination of her incredible talent with the right AD at the right time.
