With respect to Andrew's comment about his kids being breastfed so they didn't have certain health issues, it doesn't always work! I fully support stay at home Mums and breastfeeding, my kids are now 18,17 and 14 and have been a stay at home Mum, I did have to work at certain times as we were desperately in need of extra income, the first time my girls came to work with me, the second time I was running my own business around the kids, it was the last time that was the worst as I wasn't home for things the way I had been and missed out on Sports days, school pick ups etc, I hated it, it was only for around 6 months but the guilt was awful!! Anyway, I digress from the point I was making about breastfeeding, I breastfed all 3 of my children, always knew I wanted to and that I would do, I believed that it would give my children protection against ills such as eczema, asthma, allergies, etc etc. All 3 of my kids have allergies, 2 of them have eczema and 1 of them has asthma. So as wonderful as it is to promote and support your partner/wife breastfeeding, it doesn't always provide the immunity to the things we're told it will do!!

I am a big advocate of stay at home mothers, and family values in general. But the breastfeeding benefit is overblown, I agree. I don’t think “breast milk vs. formula” is all that important frankly, although it certainly helps with cost.
