This is a very enjoyable interview - thanks! Big fan of Olive and Mabel (okay, of Andrew too). We've had 4 Labradors over 20 years...two yellows and two chocolates. Can't say enough about how great this breed is. Talking about dogs in costumes, our first yellow male, Seamus, couldn't stand to see a dog wearing a dog coat and we'd have to scope out the dog park first before letting him off leash or he would literally shake the poor victim out of the very (usually expensive) coat. It was embarrassing, but we often joked that the other dog in the coat was asking Seamus to "get him free of the thing". Really looking forward to the book - any plans for issuing an audible version? I would love to listen to Andrew read his own work. All the best for the holidays!
@factsoverfiction78263 жыл бұрын
Another commenter said the book is on Audible. Yes, my dog would also snatch the hat or clothes off another dog. She did it with the moral ferocity & determination required to rescue someone from sex traffickers or an abusive cult. Yes, clothes are really that repugnant to the canine soul, I learned.

@@jillyc8589 I enjoyed reading your comment. Your poor chairs! My last rescue was half black lab. She was very clingy at first (well, always, to some extent) and over the course of many weeks I gradually built up the time she could be left on her own without crying and panicking. The very first time I left her on her own for a whole half an hour I came back and found my house looking like there had been a snowstorm. It was amazing. She had found a brand new box of mansize tissues and ripped every single one into teeny tiny pieces!

This is funny to me, about cats: cats are family-oriented creatures. The reason they bring us half dead birds is because they feel a deep responsibility to keep the family healthy and well-fed. They're deeply affectionate. I suppose if you don't understand their needs they could be a bit impatient.... I don't experience that. 😏 I like both dogs and cats, but as I commented elsewhere recently, dogs will TELL you they love you, but if a cat loves you, you don't have to ask....
@joaniecaroon94693 жыл бұрын
Amen! Also cats use a slightly different language from dogs. They stare at what they want, do a slow blink to say I trust/love you and he'd bumps.

Lovely video , but please can I add a positive comment about cats? Let's not keep on having stereotypical descriptions comparing cats and dogs they really are all individuals, just like we are! I've always had both, and some cats are extremely affectionate and some dogs are quite self contained. Let's celebrate the fact that tooth species give us poor humans a great lesson in living in the moment and being grateful for what we have - really important this year.

I love dogs. Just dogs. Not titles. And I enjoyed this until you discussed the "prices" of breeds. It was heartbreaking. You both discussed it as if it were normal to spend ridiculous amounts when there are millions of animals, great, loving animals, euthanized in shelters yearly. Lonely souls waiting in cages. PLEASE stop the overabundance of unwanted animals, puppy mills and people breeding for money -- not love, don't fool yourselves -- just cash. You also mention that your dogs aren't spayed. You're an intelligent man, Andrew, and if you truly love animals you will help spay/neuter pets. Because people like me have to rescue/adopt the unwanted animals. We had a high of 26 rescues at once. Used up my 401k and pension for all the vet bills. Had to move from my beloved ocean home to upstate NY for more space and peace. This is what buying breeds rather than adopting does to the rescuers like me. Please. THINK.
