Andrew Harvey & Caroline Baker chat about Hadewijch of Antwerp.
A week ago, the idea came to me of marrying the messages of Carolyn Baker’s tremendous and essential new book, Undaunted, with the fearless and exalted witness of Hadewijch in my new book, Love is Everything. I rang Carolyn and she was excited by the idea and so we had a sizzling and provocative conversation about how all of us can approach the current global dark night with calm, joy, meaning, purpose and profound sacred consciousness. The return of Hadewijch after six centuries of silence is not a coincidence. She had an extremely difficult life in very turbulent times but found within herself the undaunted and undauntable courage to live for divine love, come what may.
In our conversation, Carolyn and I dive deep into three essential topics. The nature of hope in our chaotic situation, the necessity of holding the tension of opposites in as spacious and brave a way as possible and the necessity of not fleeing from our grief but learning how to express and share it and use it to get closer to each other and fuel compassionate action, whatever happens. Both of us loved this conversation and my dream is people could read our two books together in the ways that we opened up.
Please plunge in and enjoy what we had to say and please explore Undaunted and Love is Everything as they both have direct encouragement for your lives in this crisis.
Andrew Harvey is Founder and Director of The Institute for Sacred Activism, an international organization focused on inviting concerned people to take up the challenge of our contemporary global crises by becoming inspired, effective, and practical agents of institutional and systemic change, in order to create peace and sustainability.

I hope you enjoy this video.

Thank you Andrew and Carolyn for sharing the depth of what love truly encompasses and truly is. I have found that by embracing all the parts of my unique expression, I have come to experience self love and self acceptance.

I paused at 13 minutes to let that soak in. I am so glad you had her read that passage. It resonates with me incredibly in relation to my feelings on the word 'must' and the insistence that if an event occurs in our life that we must respond in such a way as those that came before us. For fear of being shamed, or simply the ignorance not to question why. A recent diagnosis of my health allowed me the opportunity to question why and who was it that said we must be devastated by this diagnosis when in fact I was not feeling that at all. I started to notice in the conversations around me how frequently we all use the word must and how it directs us.
