Why would McCabe allow the POTUS to believe that he would look into the situation as there may have been reasons for his request that McCabe and the public don't know about. McCabe didn't inform the POTUS that he had no intent of following up with his request? And, that's okay? What if your boss asked you to look into a situation you thought wasn't of any significance and you didn't do it and something happened? Would you be given a pass by your boss?

The tone of Andrew McCabe's comments are consistent with those appearing in books, like Bob Woodward's Fear, and in interviews with ex-officials. Never have we been in receipt of more information to help us draw the most detailed portrait of the incumbent, both as a president and a human. To top it all off, the very public behavior of the incumbent himself dovetails perfectly with the aforementioned books and interviews. In order to stay in lock step behind this president, it is necessary to put aside the fact of his incompetence, illiteracy, pathological dishonesty and corruption. In other words, to support trump is to accept you're in a cult.

Since Trump had to find someone to replace Comey, for Trump to talk about SC and get a sense of whether one candidate was possibly knowledgeable of his campaign, or if this is someone that will potentially support him or at least to which side he leans, is not problematic. You wouldn't want to have someone that hates you if you were in Trumps shoes. If Trump tries to influence a person's conduct after he has become an FBI official, it could be unethical, but if he's just being conversational and talks about his campaign with a candidate, there's nothing wrong with that. If McCabe really thought it was such a crazy thing for Trump to ask him who he voted for, he would not have come back to Trump and answered that question, he should've avoided covering anything related to that question. He wanted the job, and he didn't want to lie about his vote, therefore he emphasized that he'd been a life long republican but didn't vote in 2016, possibly indicating that he would have voted for Trump if had to make a choice. Somehow that was not enough for Trump, so he skipped McCabe.
