Andrew - I have a really hard time believing that God loves me, too. For the few precious moments in what seems like a span of eternity where I somehow actually believe/know that He does, it’s so emotionally overwhelming…in a good way. I can’t wait until Heaven (hopefully!), where and when we will NEVER have to doubt that again 😢

So much truth here. Christ said we must love our neighbor as ourself. It seems logical to me that we must learn to love ourselves if we are to have any chance of fulfilling that commandment to love our neighbor as Christ wants.

When my daughter goes from lashing out to lashing in, I describe it like she has a sword fighting the world, but then realizing she did wrong she turns the sword on herself. The Gospel says put the sword down, the battle is won. Let Jesus carry the sword and receive His unmerited love. He’s warring for your heart.

An evangelical would perhaps say that what Andrew hears is the enemy of our souls using Andrew's own uncertainties/insecurities and repeating them over and over again to destroy his peace and joy as a child of God. It's a very common thing, but not everyone who thinks the same way as Andrew are as honest or as talented! 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." As we grow in our faith the Holy Spirit helps us see ourselves as He sees us, and His love for us never changes.
