I love the illustration of the hostage. Now my question is didn't God caused destruction by sending the flood? Andrew mentioned about God giving the earth to mankind as rulers/gods but God did wipe the life of mankind by the flood. How does Andrew explain that??

Great question, Au0rey! We apologize for our delayed response. In all of God's judgments that can be seen in the Old Testament, there is always a man that God covenants with in order to bring forth His judgment. God has never acted alone. God chose Noah to build an ark by which he (Noah) condemned the earth (Heb 11:7). Had Noah not obeyed, then another would have had to be found (if such a one existed). But Noah found grace (not justice) in the sight of God (Gen. 6:8) and that grace strengthened him for the task of building the ark. As a general rule, the Lord didn’t impute mankind’s sins unto them until the time He gave the Law through Moses (Romans 5:13), but the flood was an exception. It was actually an act of mercy on the human race as a whole. It took Noah 120 years to build the ark. He gave the people plenty of warning, yet no one chose to join him. God provided a place of safety for whoever would repent, but no one else was willing to receive His mercy. This should show us how bad it must have been at that time. Those who received this judgment were so vile that it was like a cancer that had to be cut out. Sometimes, in an effort to save an individual, a limb or part of the body will be amputated to save the whole. That is what the Lord did here, and it worked. Jesus said that God’s future judgment at the Second Coming would occur only when the level of corruption approached the same level that was present at the time of the Flood (Luke 17:26). We hope this helps God bless! -AWMI Team

Grateful Princess of God, When God said, "Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth," in Genesis 1:28 which was before the flood. When you first mentioned that, it made me look because I thought he said that after the flood too.
