@@henrygustav7948 People are willing to pay ridiculous housing prises in NY, because they already want or need to be in NY. Making a city better by improving its businesses and quality of life, will only make it more attractive to live there. It's like saying that Scandinavian countries will soon collapse, because people will leave them to live in counries with lower taxes. It doesn't work that way. Even employers choose not based on tax, but based on demographics (like talent or related businesses they need), at least in those areas where jobs won't automated away soon anyway. Like people are willing to go to Sillicon Valley, even despite its rekt housing prices, because they want to be near talent and investors, and the whole startup boiling pot.

I feel you in many cases. But he lays out stuff much more concrete than most. It doesn't help to be tooo concrete though. Specifics depend on whether we have enough knowledge about the matter yet. It's hard to lay out everything before you become mayor and gain access to all the information, what the subway situation is, what size of help is needed by how many, etc. If you look at his records though, you can't find anything more specific than what he proposed: $1000.00 per month, every person. Freedom dividend. I hate hollow words as well, but this man is one to be trusted. As far as I can see.

Any normal person can’t devote time to a campaign with a full time job making 175k. I wonder who has better benefits, the us government or the city of ny? Who loves free money in exchange of higher taxes?
@kyleclark26233 жыл бұрын
If we just redistributed our current tax dollars then we wouldn't have to increase taxes. Currently we spend 700 billion dollars more on defense than the next 10 highest countries combined. If we cut that to only 300 billion more then we instantly have 400 billion to go to ubi. The estimated cost of ubi would be about 2 trillion dollars a year, so 400 billion right off the bat without changing a single thing is quite a large chunk. Next you create a wealth tax so musk and bezos can chip in a few bucks out of their combined 500 billion dollars, then you establish a VAT tax that stops these billion dollar and trillion dollar companies from paying zero in taxes (excluding payroll taxes). That alone would create hundreds of billions of dollars...... there's plenty of ways to create revenue.
@Songmyz3 жыл бұрын
@@kyleclark2623 First of all, the concept of UBI is ridiculous. People love it because its free money thats all it really boil down to. Secondly, UBI during this economic shutdown makes sense only because the government forced it upon the people. UBI after the government re-opens everything is not beneficial because it forces people to become freeloaders i.e. when the government gave that $600 boost for UB back in March, many people chose to stay home instead of returning to work.
@Songmyz3 жыл бұрын
@@kyleclark2623 You're referring to redistribution on the federal level. Yang is running for city mayor.
@kyleclark26233 жыл бұрын
@@Songmyz it's not free money. It is our money. If you get back a certain amount of money that already comes out of your tax dollars spent then that is nothing more than a tax break.. which Republicans love apparently...... literally every study done and trial ran for ubi debunks your "freeloader" theory. For most people, 74% of people who are living paycheck to paycheck, ubi will be used for groceries and bills, allowing them a little room to breath or save some money..... thank God the $600 allowed a few people to stay home for a week during this pandemic that is about to become the number 1 cause of death in this country this year, surpassing heart disease.
