Hey Andrew, just wanted to say that your videos are really useful. I'm a web designer by trade but a client asked me to do them some brand stuff for print and all I have is Publisher so I'm finding these really beneficial in getting this job done. Thanks.

Well done Andrew. I design my cards using another program and save them as PDF. Question can I import a business card that's a PDF without issues ?
@AndrewBreault3 жыл бұрын
The best way to get your PDF design into publisher is to first export it to a JPG or PNG then import the image file into Publisher. If you have Acrobat DC just open the PDF and export. If you have a Mac I believe you can just open the PDF in preview and do a file>save as JPG Hope that helps! Thanks for watching my video

@@AndrewBreault Oh ok so its better to export as a jpg than a pdf ? I have been using pdf but I always thought that was the best ?

@@dkat1108 I may have misunderstood your question... So, just for clarity, it is best to export your final card file to a PDF before sending it to print. However, if you are, say, designing a background in PhotoShop you would want to export that to JPG or PNG before putting it into publisher. Hope that makes sense.

@@AndrewBreault OK ya make perfect sense. Ya I used to work in a large Printing shop in pre-press a lot files came as PDF they said it was best because things wont move there locked in place sort of wsiwyg where as in Quark and Illustrator files sometime things disappeared or moved. I was not as well versed as some of the others in photo work I just cranked work out for the press LOL

Hi Andrew, I don't suppose you've done a video on how to set up a business card sized folded item have you that's printed on both sides? So looks like a business card that opens with info on the inside and something on the front and back cover. Its an appointment card I'm trying to do. Cheers, Aimee

I don’t currently have a tutorial for one but I have done them before. Basically you do the same thing as setting up a normal business card only you double the size on the fold edge. So the finished card will be a 4x3.5 folded into a 2x3.5. Are you trying to make yours a full bleed design? If so remember to add .125 - .25 extra to the outside edges of the design.
