@@angryfishing7958 But it’s truly stupid to waste time trying to change those tires. We run the exact same tires on all 32 of our rigs here in Northwest Wyoming my family owns. Even when they own just one logging truck I showed this to my dad and he said that is what he calls, “PENNY WISE YET DOLLAR 💵 FOOLISH”. The shop that does our tires only charges $16 a tire. Don’t get me wrong I like him a lot. But I’ve also seen him abuse the living hell out of equipment lol. And, if you have watched any of his videos for any real length of time, you would have to admit the truth, he does. We will fire a man that abuse’s any of our equipment just half of what he does. We will. It’s too expensive to be running rough shod with equipment. I’ve been following him now for over four years and I was actually shocked at what I see him do what I’ve seen him do on his equipment. I do mean SHOCKED. 😮

@@garlandremingtoniii1338 - Back in the late 70s and during college I worked as a tire changer and lubricant tech - I changed truck tires, tractor tires, passenger tires, split rims, huge tires full of water. We used safety cages. We were trained in tire tool safety and human safety. I changed hundreds if not thousands of tires and it paid my college tuition and rent. I really miss the camaraderie of tire changers. It is very hard work. Some men do it all their lives. I did it for 5 years.

Andrew that slack adjuster on the front wheel needs to be cleaned and greased or replaced because that ring that's on that nut you adjusted is a spring loaded ring and when it's working correctly you're supposed to have to push it in in order to turn that adjustment nut, but you were able to turn it without pushing the ring in so the mating surfaces of the nut and ring could be stripped and rounded or full of dirt. That ring is supposed to keep that nut from backing off, and if it doesn't, then the slack adjusters back off quickly, not staying adjusted.

Hello, just found your channel and kudos man. I’m 48 and I’m dabbling in possibly starting up a small excavation side business. I lost my dad back in April he was 84 you remind me of what I believe my dad was like when he was young heck even in his 70s he would break his own tires light truck tires I’d catch him trying to do it himself. When he could take it some where. He really was self taught no videos back then. But he did teach me to pay attention to others and you can learn something new and possibly a better way. Like your videos on your kubota excavator on the elec. short. Ok I’ll be watching and I’m a subscriber! Take care and be safe. Chad from Central PA

Andrew, I just recently discovered your vids. They're awesome. LOVED the one where you're building the deck on top of your container house/fort and the camera work from the drone. Excellent video. Also really enjoyed the driveway renovation 1000 yards up the road from your house. I've been DOT'd 11 times in my 19 years of driving. In the day, the company I drove for ( I was a cement pump operator for a large natural gas production company in Western PA) gave $500 cash to any driver who PASSED a DOT inspection of any level. I've never NOT gotten that money, and think attitude has a lot to do with it. (and yes, you seem to have a great attitude, I'm not criticizing it) I remember one afternoon my supervisor followed me MOST of the way back to the shop, but veered off near his home and I went the last 10 miles without anyone behind me. Less than 3 miles from the shop was a pull off DOT used for inspections, and there was a trooper in there hitting the lights when he saw me. I had truck 18, the biggest piece of shit in the fleet. When the guy got to my window, I had all kinds of paperwork readily available and handed it to him, and he smiled handing most of it back. (weigh slips, acid manifests, etc. ) He did some initial paperwork, then came over and asked me to go through the lights. When he got to the back bumper, he had me step on the brakes. No brake lights. I was genuinely shocked. I'd pretripped the truck and they worked. I even made sure after the job before leaving location. He suggested turning the key on, I did, still no brake lights. He had me start the truck, still no brake lights. At this point, I was standing on the fuel tank, one foot in the cab, looking back to see his reaction. No brake lights, and I screamed "that mutherf______er"!!!!! He laughed and asked who? I told him about my super following me and never saying a word, now he's home sipping a cool one while I flunk my first DOT inspection. He came to the front of the truck, told me to sit tight, filled out my paperwork and handed it all back. Three miles from the shop. He told me to make sure I wrote it up, and get it fixed. I got $500 for that inspection, the dude laughed with me or AT me for about a half hour out of his day, and we parted ways. Now that I look back on that, it was the LAST DOT inspection I've every been in. Now I drive a water truck, nights usually, and never see DOT.

When I was younger I lost vision in both eyes (happily at different times) due to cataracts - after surgeries I regained the vision. You DO NOT want to be wandering about working with one eye - so take care of them, it's very easy to prang one or both out. Andrew (and the rest of you folks), you don't want to be trading Levi (your doggie folks) in on a seeing eye dog even if a good one.

I've found that squirting some cheap dish soap along the beads of the tire on both sides makes them slide off the rim a lot easier. Murphy's tire soap is a big help for putting on new tires. I hope this helps. Thanks for the videos!

Enjoyed your video. Can I give you a couple of tips. One. When you air up those east coast wheels it needs to be in a safety cage. If that wheel is not seated it can come apart and hurt or kill you. Second. When adjusting that old style slack adjuster. That little sleeve that goes around the adjusting head. You push it in to adjust and turn the adjuster until that sleeve pops up. The adjuster will be flush with the top of the adjuster when it locks. I hope you follow what I’m saying and please don’t think that I’m a know it all. You might already know this. I’m sorry if you do. Some people don’t know. I really enjoy your videos.you do good work. 👍👍👍

I got a dash cam however. and its pretty damn visible, actually I have no rear view mirror lol I have a dash cam in its spot. Anyway the point here... I've had cops chase up behind me (cause I was kinda trying to get away from them lol so I know he hammered it) I've even had em pull out behind me lights and all to turn into the next parking lot... I mean I am likely wrong but I credit all that to them seeing the dash camera (and some to the vehicle). I mean, I got nothing else, when your rear plate is in your rear window and you have NO front bumper or plate (under the seat) why the hell else was I not pulled over?

I know the DOT can be a pain in the butt but we all know why they stop trucks, To keep the road safe for everyone. One thing I will say for safety sake is when you take a Dayton rim off don't take the lug nuts all the way off, Leave them on when you hit the wedges with a hammer to get them loose ! They are under a lot of pressure and will fly off and can hurt or kill someone when the nuts are off. So leave the nuts on when popping the wedges loose and save yourself a hospital bill. I need to get my old dump truck back on the road , But I know it will take a bunch of work to make it legal again. Keep up the great work and video's. Bandit

Gotta love the NYS DOT checkpoints as well. Whenever I used to drive big commercial stuff for my old job we all used to get off the highway and go around the checkpoint, then get back on. Or we had the boss who was driving his pickup go ahead of us all and let us know if the checkpoint was open. I've lived in this state just north of you all my life. Definitely agree about people getting railroaded by these guys quite often. I've personally been lucky so far, but they are known for writing STACKS of tickets for every little thing they can.
