He Said Scorch Was BAD, So I HAD to Prove Him WRONG! (Paladins Fernando Ranked)

Scorch got powered up at the start of Season 7, and while it's been nerfed since then, it's still an excellent playstyle for Fernando when played well. However, one ranked player wasn't convinced, and proceeded to flame AndrewChicken in the funniest way for playing Scorch instead of Aegis! This player hadn't won a game yet, so Andrew decided to give them their first win by carrying with Scorch!

That dude said Scorch was Nando's worse talent? I would put Scorch at the top of Nando's best talent especially with a insane loadout (I deleted my Scorch loadout by mistake last night and I'm sad). The only things with Nando you really need to worry about is enemy team running Betty, Dredge and wrecker cause those 3 together would melt a shield (if you don't get it then I can explain it in comment). But yeah, that guy never played Nando in any point during his time on Paladins I bet

Formidable and Scorch is the ideal way to play Fernando, Aegis is just outclassed and overall boring to just be a bullet sponge.

I have to disagree, Aegis fulfills the role of being the unstoppable bulwark, a dashing knight swooping in to save his comrades from harm. To a true tank the is no greater ideal.

@@raystimphil8280 I guess Wrecker is the piercing lance which demolishes that role. A scorch or formidable nando up against an aegis will result in victory for the former 9/10 times. The two talents are just better for maintaining survivability.

@@kiryukazuma7960 thankfully wrecker is nowhere near as common as it was back in the day. As someone who played during open beta, it baffles me how I could get through a full game as Aegis Fernando without a single enemy buying it. You do have a good point though since once they have wrecker you essentially lose your talent.

@@raystimphil8280 I don't think Aegis isn't a bad talent, just limited compared to what Scorch and Formidable can offer, and against better players they're more likely to buy Wrecker to counter the shield if it proves troublesome, regardless of your choice of talent

Honestly I stopped caring what talents my teammates play long time ago (except for solo supports going damage and not even attempting to heal your teammates, screw you guys). As long as you're effective at whatever you're doing you can even play without a talent in my eyes. People can surprise you with "non-meta" talents and maybe you can even learn something from them instead of blindly following the "meta"

I think fernando scorch is really good. as you show in this video! but I think the critical thing is that you had a nyx to be point tank in this game. wheras in the first game I really don't think it's the play as a solo point tank like you were in the first game. playing aegis as a main tank still forces so many resouces from the enemy team, wheras if you are scorch you cant push chokes in the same way especially against omen. wrecker 2 on the omen and your shield genuinely doesnt exist without aegis. In the ice mines game the nyx pulls a lot of the omens focus with each mid fight which in turn enables you to hold the main choke well utilising scorch, a really good demonstration of how the talent is good. but as main tank in the first game especially paired with raum I think aeigis would have enabled the team more. I can't see the item purchases, but just on comps and the map, you need to be able to close the distance to pressure any dps (cassie and omen) both who ideally sit outside your effective range, fightining nyx on point your shield will just explode even early game which leaves you vunerable to poison and getting farmed by nyx when playing scorch. without a bulkier shield as well your team will struggle to push keep side of the map against omen khan which once again leaves your BK to suffer. The general point I'm trying to make here is that while scorch is amazing for off tank as you show here (primarily because of the ult charge), picking it as a point tank I feel should be advised against - unless the comp really calls for it and the map works. Good game tho, you deffo know your scorch fernando! wp :) extra point here sorry! I am also aware that people don't like playing aegis but it's an incredibly useful resource as point tank so please use it when playing point.

To me scorch isn’t the best. It’s the last talent where he can ram into people. I love it a lot. Especially when smacking tanks off point and putting up my shield for a fast cooldown

Not to mention that with all of the DR around, it is better to capitalize on extra dmg on an ability that isnt affected by Haven since no one buys Arcane warding anyway.

Scorch is the only way. Massive ult charge, and the shield gets melted anyway. You'll need the scorch to fight with no shield lol. Also, this is THE scorch map

You can get all of this with formidable. Having two charges with cooldown reduction on charge and shield regeneration makes Formidable an actually solid talent. Scorch only edges out Formidable by maybe a few points of DMG.

It is the same issue as when grohk's totem talent was similar, 3 totem charges with no individual cd. You could play scorch with the card that reduces the cd on dash whe u use fireball and it ends up being somewhat similar
