Genuinely believe he is one of the best ball carrying props of all time. Speed combined with pure strength.

It's a shame Tupou was in poor form during that series (and has been since) because he was also an incredible ball carrier during his early twenties.

So many of these clips are years old. He doesn't carry like this any more (which is fine, he's older). Same thing happened to Marler, who was a very good ball carrier in his early 20's.

Isn't consistent in the scrum, lacks the hands/nuance of say Baille et al, so is simply a ball carrying prop which means he does that job at prem level, struggles to make the same inroads at test level due to coming up against bigger better players and therefore take away his carrying ability sort of gets a bit lost at test level. in my view, a lot of the england squad fall under this category. Exceptions could said to be Steward (high ball excel) Lawrence (carrying excel) and Tom Curry (breakdown/tackle excel) and Freeman (running lines/breaking lines excel) are the players that could be said to be test match proper. Haven't seen a lot of Freeman obviously at test level but his potential is certainly there to excel in breaking defence through line break running at decent angles.

Yet we see him offload multiple times in an England jersey here. He got rid of Paul Willemse, Kerevi and Fikou (who people always say is defensively great) to name a few in this video and was immense on the australia tour. He had furlongs number in the scrum in 2022 throughout the whole game pretty much. Even in the rwc he played well but shame hes injured atm. He will definitely be on tour to Aus with Farrell. Baille isn't the strongest scrummager either though. Obviously it's not going to be as impactful at test level but to say it gets lost is ludicrous. You're just a hater and you dunno why

@@donuttime2507 defences are naturally weaker at club level than international level so you can’t exactly replicate it, but I think he does a good job of it on the international stage

@@donuttime2507 I don't know about overrated, think he offers something very few other props do even at test level with his ball-carrying and explosiveness. Would agree that he's not among the world's best scrummagers though, which is the most important thing for a prop
@thereader666711 ай бұрын
I genuinely believe that Steve Borthwick doesn't know what to do with him. He has a much better scrummager in Marler and Ben Earl is preferred for the hard carries. Genge is kept in the tight spaces to put in big hits now, clearly not being given any space. No idea why he was made captain for one game last year. We got battered and I think that has slightly knocked his confidence.

@AndrewDavidForde I think Sinckler was the bigger problem for England. I think he was fine with Dan Cole. It still amazes me that England didn't get smashed in the scrum when they played Mako with Sinckler.
